confession re former governor of Q Roo

Former governor of Quintana Roo Mario Villanueva, who has been in custody here in Mexico for at least a couple of years now and whom the U.S. would like to extradite and put up on charges related to his alleged involvement in drug running, appears to have been the recipient of another significant nail in his coffin: an ex-Lehman Bros exec has confessed to helping him launder some USD 11 million, money he came by allegedly through involvement with the Juarez drug cartel. There are many articles out there on the topic: here's one from CNN/Money if you want to take a look.

One interesting quote from it: the executive in question...
Quote:
...admitted she knew about the Mexican government's investigation into Villanueva Madrid's illegal activities but that she avoided looking into the matter or informing her superiors so she could continue receiving commission income.
Thought that was interesting as a sort of appropriate complement from the Ameircan business/investment community to the shining example of morals presented by the main story from the Mexican political community...

Interesting stuff. I'm wondering, did all this go on around the time when the Real hotels were all seized by police because of links to Columbian drug cartels and Alcides Magana?

I can probably google the answer to this....
