Corona Lamp

When I was in Texas and all those pubs, bars and restaurants had those neon-lights I suddenly had the urge to buy a Corona lamp for my living room. The one I fell in love with is this one:

My question now is: does anyone know whether it's possible to buy something like that in a normal store? I am going to Seattle in 5 weeks and if this lamp is available somewhere I might be able to buy it. Would be good to have a look first as over here electricitry is different and I would need to make sure that I can use it here.... over here in Germany I think it's impossible to find it...

You don't want to order them online? Here's a website with a wide assortment of them. Neon signs You could always have it shipped to someone who lives in the area, then meet them to pick it up.

The only places I might think to look would be.... darn, somebody help me with the name of the gift store that's in all the malls - Simpsons? Sterling? something like that. There's a "head shop" in Ohio that carries stuff like that - Waterbeds N Stuff - but I don't think they're outside the state.

Thanks Suzie, this is already a starting point. I already sent an email to my travel companion to Seattle who lives in Alabama if I could have shipped it to her. But she has to change the plane twice to come to Seattle so I would prefer not to bother her with it... or if there is a place in Playa which sells something like that I could wait until March to buy it...

Andrea, if you were going to be in a certain hotel for a few days, and could get the company to pinpoint shipping (or that seller on e-bay - that looks like a bargain compared to the others), you could just have it shipped to the hotel, couldn't you?

I am not going to a hotel in Seattle but we have rented a houseboat on Lake Union. I have alread sent an email to my travel companion as I have seen the price difference too... Just don't know whether they are really new at ebay or just try to sell a lamp which might be broken (maybe I am too suspicious...).

Still trying to find the Corona lamp over here... have found other neon-lamps which are nice too but they are just not the Corona lamp.... You know the feeling when you just fall in love with something and nothing else can be as good as this specific item?

Maybe I should keep an eye on ebay-Germany and hope it comes up here too...

Andrea, you're right to be concerned about a seller with zero transactions, but I wouldn't be too worried about the lamp being broken before it's shipped. I'd get the shipping insurance and keep my fingers crossed. If you love it, buy it!

First have to hear back from my contact in Alabama. She is the one who would have to schlepp it all the way to Seattle....

Buying lava lamps for one's sons for Christmas! It's a great store if you're ever in Ohio - T-shirts, posters, dumb gifts, lots of cool lamps and stuff. Plus the other stuff.

you should have said something a few months ago. My nephew owns a bar and could have gotten you one...with alot of prodding from Auntie Rita...alot of prodding.

I never thought of Spencers as a headshop, but it is a cool place to get stuff. I go there to get Slim some musical laser stuff.

How could I say something a few months ago if I fell in love with that sign last week???? Actually I think it was on our way to San Marcos in that Willie Nelson shrine (truck stop) on the highway where we had our late lunch...
