Female named Hurricanes Vs male
My husband and his buddy were arguing about whether female named hurricanes were more devastating than male named storms/hurricanes. I said that a hurricane is a hurricane and doesn't have a thing to do with whether it's named after a male or female, but you know how some of these guys get when they've had a couple beers
What do you think? Any hurricane experts around? |

sorry for the "attack"....just seemed a bit inappropriate right now.
However...top hurricanes of all time (recorded) as far as intensity. Not destruction. Note that Katrina stands at 902MB right now. Hurricane Gilbert (888 mb, 1988) The Great Labor Day Hurricane (892 mb, 1935) Hurricane Allen (899 mb, 1980) Hurricane Camille (905 mb, 1969) Hurricane Mitch (905 mb, 1998) Hurricane Ivan (910 mb, 2004) |

In case someone doesn't know and you didn't assume it from Babaloo's post, the lower the mb number, the stronger the hurricane. Not sure why Gilbert is not showing up on the list here at the NOAA list of most intense?
Edit...Now I see...I was just being U.S. centric.... ![]() Last edited by Jacko : 08-28-2005 at 03:16 PM. |
