Xpu-Ha Beach: Fun? Nice?
We are looking at places to get married in Riviera Maya. One of the villas we found is called Bel Ha and is located on Xpu-Ha beach. Anyone know anything about that area? How far it is from Playa? Are there any hotels, etc. in the Xpu-Ha beach area where our guests could stay? Just want some insight because while the villa looks great, I don't have any clue what the area is like or whether it would at least be near fun areas. Any input would be great!

It probably is a great location for a wedding.
This hotel is just up the street. http://www.palaceresorts.com/Resorts...lace/Index.asp There are other options close by like these. http://www.barcelo.com/Barcelo/EN/Pr...htm?cHotel=202 You can see the house and the other neighboring properties on the locogringo site start the aerial beach tour at Xpu Ha and head north. Xpu Ha is about twenty miles south of Playa. |

Can't remember the name of the resort that opened between Xpu-Ha Palace and Cobacabana last spring. Small boutique place, all white, private. It was beautiful but very expensive! Tried to do a search for the name but couldn't come up with it....it was discussed here previously.

One of the most beautiful beaches on the coast. It has become much more populated over the last 5-6 years with the additions of the above noted AI's and hotels but still borders on paradise. Only 5 minutes to Puerto Aventures which is quite small but has some shopping and a few nice restaurants, although I'm not sure of its current condition since the hurricane.

Thankfully Not $40,000!

If we go for it, we'll only be renting it for about 3 nights. Still super expensive, but for our wedding it's worth it! Thanks for everyone's feedback. Really appreciate it. Trying to search for places when I've never been to the Riviera Maya is hard. Will be coming out for a site visit end of September. Hope it's as great as it looks on the Internet!!! |

I agree though, it's your wedding and you have to do what YOU think will make your day special and memorable. It looks like an absolutely FABULOUS place. |

Transportation?
Thank you so much for all the responses. This board is so great!
Another quick question... Anyone know whether there is any kind of transportation between towns on the Riviera Maya other than rental cars? Basically, if we do end up staying around Xpu-Ha beach, but wanted to head up to Playa for shopping, restaurants, snorkeling, etc. is there a way for us to get there and back? |

Collectivo's are cheap and offer an experience you won't get at home. Run a search (scroll up) and you will have more info than you can read. There is also a bus line that runs on Hwy.307. ( At $2,650 a day you would think transportation would be included.) Good Luck
