Hi,
Can anyone recomend a company or guide to take myself and my hubby on some tours in Mexico City next year? I have a back problem, so walking can be a problem if I have to keep up with a group but I`ll be OK if we can do tours at our own pace. Do you know of a forum similar to this one based in Mexico City that might be able to help? Any recomendations would be really great. Thanks, Di |

I'd also recommend checking with Jesus who moderates the Changarros y mas forum here on Playa.Info. He lives in Mexico City and has in the past been a wonderful resource for others planning to travel there. If you'd like to PM (private message) him... click here.

Tours
I usually stay at the Holiday Inn by the zócalo and what I have do is have an employee at the concierge desk call a radio taxi. What he/she will also do for me is negoiate the cost of transporting me to Teotihuacan or other places that I enjoy visiting in Mexico City. If your hotel has a sitio for taxis, you can negotiate with one of them. The majority of them do tours or will drop you off for dinner and pick you up. You can get some good rates if you use their services for several tours. It costs a bit more, but I believe that it is worth the comfort and safety.

sorry guys, being pretty busy lately.
I do agree on all those recomendations. Taxis from the hotels are expensive, but you can ask the concierge for those radio taxis and those are safe, you can have the license plate numbers and name of the driver before he/she arrives. Only issue would be to get a driver that is fluent in English, those at the hotels speak good English but are extremely expensive. |

Thanks Andiline, Denisea,Sol and Jesus for your posts and information.
I would prefer to be able to have an English speaking guide with us to give us some information as we go around the places we visit, especially as we don`t speak Spanish. We do intend to try to learn a bit of Spanish before we go next year but we certainly won`t be very fluent at all by then I`m afraid. If anyone happens to know of any in Mexico City I`d be really grateful if they would give me their information to contact them. I realise they aren`t cheap but it depends on how expensive they are as to whether we can afford to pay for one. Thanks again. Di |
