Don't know if the candle-lighting thing is strictly a Catholic rite, but I'll join you, Shiantry. May the Powers That Be keep everyone safe and in comfort.

You've gotta know I LUV your avatar!!!

...I started this thread without any thoughts of what you have to believe in to light a candle. Me as a buddhist light candles every night for a lot of reasons...Sometimes I feel like lighting a candle for one or more of my P-info family/friends...What place would be a better place to light a candle than on the forum itself ...I Started this thread also, so you can place just a thought, just for yourself or just for someone else...

Sweet lovely Karen (I do like you to much) we have to come to the states one time just to visit you...Love your today's grazy avatar to

Thank you for the clarification, Shiantry. And your candle-lighting is a very nice gesture (just like you). I'll light another candle - this one for all the animals in harm's way. It's so pitiful when they are frightened, and there's no way to explain to them what's going on.

If you're ever in the Boston area, mi casa su casa! Hopefully someday we can share a frosty margarita on the beach in Playa too!!

They have to release all the animals that are locked up because all the animals know exactly what is going on there well developed instincts we humans mostly loose through time...Like the animals when the surnami came remember Same as in Louisiana only the animals that were not released died and that were hopefully not much...

I will do what-ever it takes to protect my animals!!!!!! I cannot fathom how people can leave them, tie them up and hope for the best etc... It will be interesting to observe thier instincts on this.

Thank you ALL for thinking of us down here and to those of you on this forum who have offered me thier homes to come to. I will try and keep everyone posted on the situation as it unfolds for as long as I am able to. Time to move all the stuff from the yard inside!!!!! Godspeed everyone!!!! Keep those candle burning!!!

Ofcourse you protect your animals what-ever it takes , I am talking about release the cows, horses, sheeps, or take them in a trailer to a save place...A friend of us is a veterinary, she tell me the story how in Indonesia way before the tide whas rising al birds and other wild animals where gone...same if you look how many animals died because of Katrina, as far as she knows not much...only the animals that where capt in prisson...

If I had a home in the US I would offer it to, for shore...But for now the only thing we can do in burning a 1000 candles and hoping no one get hurt...

I can't imagine leaving animals out in the storm. Our lab is NEVER allowed inside(he's eat isabelle )but I did go buy a large carrier and he WILL be in it IN our house for this one! I have too many other things to stress about(ie.the safety of my dh and 4 babies to also add worrying that harley is out in a hurricane!) I also bought a Sherpa carrier for isabelle so that she won't be hiding upstairs or somewhere i can't get to her when the weather gets bad! She'll be going into the closet w/us, too, if we have to get in there

Tonight I light a candle for my good friend Ranch who has a brain injury as a result from a motorcylce accident. Every day it as if he ran a marathon as far as rehab goes.
