Wyndham by request Number

I booked with an apple vacation, but told the TA the number and that is listed in the notes field for my reservation. I also e-mailed the hotel directly, and Nickolas did tell me that he made a note as well.

Well, I have always been told by both Apple and the Wyndham folks that no Wyndham By Request points are earned when booking with Apple. If they told you something else, then I don't know if someone was fibbing, or pehaps things have since changed I was told that. But none of my clients have ever received credit for their stay when booking with Apple. I guess perhaps an e mail or phone call to the hotel to ask about it might be in order?

Last e mail address I had that worked is:

viva [dot] maya [at] vivaresorts [dot] com

You can also e mail Wyndham and/or chat with a live agent right on their web site HERE

Wyndham Viva

Ah, okay. It was booked thru Apple. Maybe I can wiggle an extra pillow or something ... never hurts to ask!

I'm a travel agent, hoping to check the area out after all the hurricanes. Not much on the Viva after Wilma ... I imagine I'll see for myself when I'm there.

Just have to share that I send this website, along with Loco Gringo, to my clients. They all seem to appreciate that even though everyone is very pro Playa/Rivera Maya, they are also honest about their experiences. Much better than the seemingly always negative Trip Advisor.

Thanks!

Patti,

Can you tell me the email address you used to contact the hotel and/or Nickolas? Is it the same as the one Sammy just mentioned?

Points verses perks

You are correct, you don't earn points, but you do get the perks, the robes, the special check in / check out lanes, the in room beverages and snacks that you sign up for etc.... but no points airline or otherwise are accumulated if not booking directly with wyndham.

Thanks Patti! Would rather have those perks than points anyway! What a treat!!

This time next week, I'll be enjoying the sunrise from the top of Coba. Ole Ole!!

viva maya

My husband and I are members at the
viva Maya. They opened at the end of Nov. They have been doing a lot of renovations there, partially due to hurricane damage. They are also adding apartments in the back where tennis court was previously located. Can't wait to see it, we always go two weeks in Feb.

Viva Maya

I'll be sure to log in and let you know what I see when I'm there next week. I know Emily impacted them in August ... hoping things are lots better now.

We will be staying there from 20th Dec for two weeks so would appreciate your views on the hotel since the changes.
Interesting to hear about this adults only section they have built near the road.
Our youngest is 14 so we hope that they havn't spoilt what was a good family hotel when we were last there in 2003.
I have nothing against adult only places but not with families staying there.
Hope the gardens are still as good and those funny little rodent like creatures are still there.

Just returned last night from a 2 week trip in Playa and I am officially a PDC lover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an amazing place. My family and I (hubby and 2 kids 5 and 8) stayed at the Viva Azteca for 2 weeks and it was nice. The beach was awesome, they have been working very hard on it and it has payed off. The resort was nice, food is ok, nothing to write home about but I really couldn't care less about that. I just went for the beach and the sun and we got 14 days of it!!!!!!

We visited The Viva Maya and it reopened on Nov. 25. It looks great, I would stay there next time rather than the Azteca. The staff at the Maya was much better, more upbeat, friendlier, more family oriented that the Azteca. Lots and lots of Europeans at the Azteca, not many Canadians or Americans. Lots of guests from Italy, and Poland. I did like the Azteca because it was cozy, my kids could run to the bathroom alone and I could still see them from the pool. Cleanliness was not an issue. The resort is very clean, rooms, dining areas, beach and all. Don't expect it to be 5 star ritzy resort where you are waited on hand and foot, but do expect to relax and enjoy a beautiful beach, pool and tropical breeze!!!!!!!!!! The leaves on the palm trees are slowly growing back, and yes those little rodents are still around cute as can be!! Kappyberra I believe is what they are!! My kids loved them!! Couple of cute kitty cats too!!! Enjoy your vacation!!!!!! I already miss mine!!!!

I agree BeachMom. We stayed at the Azteca but much preferred the Maya - it was just livelier. How was the beach at both resorts?

Any chance you could post pictures?

Viva Maya

I'm going back in February 2006 to the Viva Maya for my second time. Based on your visit did it appear that they completed most of the renovations at the resort? Was there plenty of beach left? What other changes have you noticed to the resort since the renovation?
