No fear... kids are welcome. The place is split into 3 distinct sections: Bar only, Secondary bar w/Casual Dining, and Dining only. We'll be in the casual dining section. It's a great family joint with breakfast entrees running $6-$8.

Dicks Bar is always worthwhile, but especially on the weekends. Their weekend Bloody Mary special isn't a to-die-for concoction but it comes with a beer chaser for a buck. Also, Hudson, WI is a great clean little town with several extremely good eateries.

O'Garas is also very casual and split into several adjoining rooms. They have a place in the back called the Garage where GB Leighton will be performing that evening. We were there roughly a week ago for a ski club event and it was hopping, so I suspect it'll be even busier for Halloween weekend. What's cool about this place is that you can't really tell when someone's hitting on you.

Yes, hoping to secure a few stools at the main bar and maybe a booth or table directly adjacent to it. The little section closest to Snelling near the front window would work perfectly. If it happens to be too crowded, we can always move over one section towards the south, away from Selby.

Cross into Wisconsin at Prescott and head southward with pit stops at Bay City, Maiden Rock, Stockholm and Nelson. Cross back into Minnesota at Wabasha and gradually meander north on Highway-61 through Lake City with a lunch break in Red Wing. Late dinner with Tommy & Donna at Muddy Waters in Prescott, WI. The river run plan is purely dependent on good weather.

October 27th - Thursday

October 28th - Friday
Late breakfast in downtown Hastings.
Visit Alexis Bailey Winery in Hastings(Opens at 11am)
Cross into Wisconsin at Prescott and head northward through Hudson then buzz over the St Croix River dropping into Minnesota at historic Stillwater. This stop will be a mix of browsing, shopping, as well as drinks and appetizers at Dock Café, Freighthouse, Mad Capper and Cesare’s Wine Bar. Then a stop up the road at Lake Elmo Inn for an escargot appetizer (that’ll keep Jan happy) and a quick drink at Neumann’s Bar in North St. Paul.
At this point, we’ll head straight to downtown Minneapolis and switch to timed itinerary:
4:30 - The Local (yes, that’s the name) - 931 Nicollet Mall, 612-901-1000)
We’ll likely be at the main bar where we can cause the most trouble!!
6:30 - Solera - 900 Hennepin Ave, 612-338-0062
Again, we’ll be hanging at the bar drinking mojitos and ordering a healthy mix of their Spanish tapas.
8:30 - Rock Bottom Brewery - SE corner of 9th & Hennepin, 612-332-2739
Nice active place to hang out, across the street from Solera. They also serve mixed drinks and fairly good food.
