Sorry, but am I missing something? It was if I remember correctly early last December, or that is to say almost precisely 1 year ago, that that space was still closed and Blue Lobster was claiming they'd signed a deal to break down the wall and take it over. And it seems to me that it took some time before we started seeing it renovated and open. Maybe this means that ******** was located somewhere else before?

I believe it was Michele and her husband celebrating their 1 year anniversary in Playa. Not the one year anniversary of the restaurant in Playa.

Yes, sorry that was unclear. It has been 1 year in PDC for my family, not ********.
Not a lot of people there last night but there did not seem to be a lot of people out in general. I didnīt bring my camera but I will try to get some pics soon. The atmosphere is kind of tropical/romantic. Nice lighting, not bright at all. The pool is still there with funny battery operated fish swimming around in it. The pool lights have color wheels, so it slowly changes from one color to the next.

Thanks for the info. Sounds pretty cool. Not sure about the battery operated fish though. That sounds odd.

********

I too was enticed by the wonder tha ******** appears....however, a word to the wise. Their fish was mediocre at best, and expensive, as it is charged by the piece. Plus, they did not have half of the items listed on their sushi menu.
Here is the kicker. When the bill came, they had overcharged me for items. When I directly showed them that the menu prices were different than the charged items, they shook my hand, and basically told me to go f**k myself. Poor management.
Additionally, I was not allowed to charge the tip on my credit card.
While the ****** might be a nice hotel, I strongly discourage anybody from visiting the ********. Poor food, bad management, but a nice waiter (his first day on the job)

Basically, I have heard the same. Friends of mine ate with the owners (grand opening) and food and service were wonderful Then a group of them went back a few weeks later (and not with the owner present). This time service was terrible, food/sushi mediocre, and the bill outrageous. I do have to say the the actual restaurant area does look cool. I used to stay a Pancho's Hotel(now ******/ ********) and have such wonderful memories of the fun I had there (between Frieda's Bar and my room). Oh well, some things do change for the worse - this must be one of them!!

Such as shame to hear this as we had such a nice time. Yes, very expensive by our standards, but we were only charged for what we ordered, which was delicious. Things do change though. Thank you for the update.

How interesting that "Legman" joined Playainfo and his very first post was a bogus critique on the new ********, the new ****** restaurant. No introduction--no "I love Playa"--just right into a very malicious rant against a new restaurant.

And how coincidental. Considering it was just the other night that a group of folks partying at La Rana the other night were loudly discussing the idea of using the forum to "payback" the ******. Without mentioning names, a couple of these folks are affiliated with a certain former tenant of the ******.

Coincindence? I don't think so.

I don't know who Yom is, but he seems to know me. Except for the fact that I was never at La Rana, I was not bashing the ****** or know anybody or any former tenant of the ******. Apparently he did not read the other people who shared a similar experience at the crappy ********. Or maybe he did not bother to read what happened there. In any event, I hope Yom will learn to think before writing anything...well, I guess one can only hope. However, Yom does not appear to have the intellectual capacity for learning, as he seems more eager to jump to conclusions.
And if it makes him happy, I love Playa, just hate ******** (not the ******), and I pretty much hate Yom

We visited ******** on December 18. The ambience was terirfic, the service was good, but the food and drinks were just okay. Oddly, the salads and vegetables were the dishes that shone, the much-vaunted fish was pretty mediocre. And we also noted that we asked for a dish that was on the menu, but they didnt have it. We feel the restraunt would be improved with an expanded menu, keeping some of the items that were really good, and adding other items that would appeal to a broader clientele. If they did that, we would go back, but probably wouldnt otherwise. The service was excellent, but then, there was only one other couple there when our party of four was seated.

Don't know a thing about the new restaurant at the ******, BUT I do know my brother was overcharged (GROSSLY) at the bar at the end of the night. Quite an inflated tab. He didn’t pay….called police….and a compromise was made. Hard to prove you didn’t order items. He learned to pay as you go NEVER run a tab. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

My parents stay at the ****** frequently. They have only had this happen one time as mentioned above. They have also had some strange charges made on their credit card from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Mexico</st1:place></st1:country-region> 15 minutes after booking their room at the ******. However, that could happen anywhere not even sure if someone at the ****** did it but seems very likely.<o:p></o:p>
