Well Roni, one of us is going to be wrong then, since I predicted the Astros doing the same thing. Either way, it'll be a great series.

LaRossa drives me crazy sometimes, but I have the utmost respect for what he does. I have no use for Bobby Cox though. There is nothing more cowardly than being a wife beater. I know it happened a few years ago, but it doesn't change the fact that he did it.

I'll get off my soapbox now...

MikeW, you are, of course, correct. Saw Gibby pitch in the 68 Series against Detroit - or was that 67? Memory is fuzzy.

Pepsi man. I think he drank a six pack a day of Pepsi. Was that the year McClain sent a big fat one to Mickey Mantle in one of Mantle's last at bats of his career, so Mickey could hit it over the fence? Freehan let Mantle know that McClain was gonna groove one for him.

'69 McClain also had a good year, then all hell broke loose.

Yep, a game does not a series make - but it is a nice start for those of us who are Cardinal fans.
