Riviera Caribe Maya

We have always stayed at this Hotel and have loved the way the hotel is taken care of and run.

I was just told by a friend that came back from there yesterday, that I should rethink staying there in May and change my plans.
Does anyone have any input on likes or dislikes in staying there since the new owners took over last year?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Mel

We had nothing remarkable to comment on during our stay that would preclude us from staying there again...We always enjoyed the coffee, juice and toast in the morning and the staff was very accomodating...the room was comfortable...and the location (in the North end) was just fine.

We're always keen on staying in different places, but would stay there again with no hesitation if need be....

...by the way - we were there in April 2005 for three nights.

We're heading there the week of Oct. 22nd, so I'll let you know if there's anything strange afoot.

I booked the RCM based on the plethora of positive comments, location and price. I hope it's everything I hear!

10 days and counting!

C'mon, Mel.... what did your friend say that was so bad?? Sounds like you're the one with the information to give US. Was this his first time staying there, so he's merely comparing it to someplace else? Or is his opinion based on before and after ownership changed??

We stayed there last February and enjoyed it so much we booked it for this coming February (Peep Fest).

riviera caribe maya

Mybad.... not enough background to my question.
We have stayed there for the past 6 years and have always told everyone about this great "clean" hotel. The person that just got back was one of those people and it was her 3rd time staying there. Last year the ownership changed after we had left. I was told this time that it wasn't the same and seemed that the new owners didn't have the same standards. I am still sure that Alfredo and Betty (managers), are as friendly and helpful as always.
I am a firm believer that change isn't bad, but am open to looking for some place else to try. I have always heard the good about RCM, and was wondering if anyone else had a less than good stay there.

Thanks for all of the feed back!
Mel

22 days, Kathy?? Do you get home the day before the Mid-Atlantic Peep Meet??

As for the Riviera Caribe, I'm sure it'll be just as nice as it's been in the past, and I look forward to seeing the very friendly and accommodating staff again. Always felt like "home" when we stumbled.... I mean, walked.... through the lobby doors late at night (or early in the morning).

Actually, one of the new owners of the hotel is a woman named Paola, who has worked in many hotels in the past, including as a manager at Posada Mariposa. She is very dedicated to her job and determined to make the transition in the hotel as smooth as possible. The staff at the hotel has, for the most part, stayed the same. I'd love some examples of what your friends felt was different, since I'm quite sure Paola would like to know as well. She is responsive and responsible, and losing loyal customers isn't part of her game plan.

I have a confirmation Email from Alfredo in July. Do I need to re-confirm or anything like that? As I sit here in my cubicle farm, I am counting the hours!

Thanks.

Did you book with them after contacting them first through Playa.info? If so, send me your full name, dates of travel, and email address and I will check it out for you.

Unfortunately I do not really know. I had sent an email through playa.info but never heard back and called the number through their website and ended up getting the booking that way.
