Hotel Aventura Mexicana
Hello everyone,
We are 4 gay male friends from Montreal (Canada) planning to visit Playa Del Carmen next winter. We were considering staying at the Hotel Aventura Mexicana. If you stayed at that place, your comments would be greatly appreciated. How clean was your room? Did you find the staff truly friendly or simply what one would normally expect from a regular Hotel? How did you like the food served at the Hotel restaurant? How is their breakfast buffet? What do they include in the buffet (i.e.: just muffins and coffee, or the full works such as: eggs, omelets, ham, bacon, sausages, hash brown potatoes, french toasts, waffles, pancakes, various pastries, fruits, juices, coffee, etc? Do you know if there is an elevator at the Hotel? Any feedback from previous customers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking time to read my thread. ... Bad Boy |

Have you tried the search function? I had a quick look because I was surprised no one had posted before, and it seems Hotel Aventura Mexicana remains a somewhat touchy subject.
Anyway. I found some information here but, as I said try searching and you'll pick up some bits and pieces. |

One of my favorite posters whom I haven't seen around in awhile, ChicagoGuy, stays at Aventura Mexican while he is here.
You can read his trip report here. Hope this helps! Aventura Mexicana has a great location and a good rep. |

Aventura Hotel
Guys,
I have not stayed there but have talked to guys that have and liked the place (staff, location, rooms, etc). Once you are in town, there's plenty to do. Club 69 is the gay bar in town. Michael and Carlos are the owners. The place gets packed late at night, especially on the weekends. There are a lot of other cool places to go where you will find gay and straight all having a fun time. That's one of the best things about Playa. I'm flying down today with my partner and three friends to celebrate the new year in Playa. I have a villa in Playacar if you guys are ever interested in renting a house for your stay. I'll have new pics when I get back from this trip. I just had the entire inside remodeled. Happy New Year! Todd |

I have not stayed there, but my sister did and said it was a great hotel- clean and nice- and the owners and even the hotel bar were great. My sister likes to bitch so I consider this high praise, if it were at all bad, she would have mentioned it.
I also know it's a gay friendly hotel that I believe, I could be wrong, is owned by a gay couple. My only real observation is to request a room that doesn't directly border 10th Ave so you won't hear traffic or buzzing sccoters at 4am- this is advice I would give to anyone booking a room at a hotel that borders 10th. |

My wife and I stayed there last January. The owner and staff were very nice and accommodating. The room was very clean. The food in the restuarant is excellant. The breakfast buffet includes juice, coffee, tea, scrambled eggs with meat and hash browns , fruit, rolls, bread and more.
You can eat either inside ( there are no walls, so it's kind of like being outside ) in the bar area or outside in the courtyard ( my preference ) Everyone, staff and guests, were very friendly. Happy hour at the bar in the afternoon was alot of fun. They have a small pool in the courtyard and jacuzzis all three levels. There is no elevator, but there are only three floors. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the climb was'nt bad at all. I highly reccommend this hotel. |

I have a friend from Toronto that worked the bar last January to March. We didn't stay there but did enjoy the hotel bar great staff. The owners are a stich. It is not exclusively gay but does cater to the gay community. The people we met that stayed there that were not gay seemed very comfortable. I personally have never found straight people to be uncomfortable around me. By and large most of our friends are straihgt and married. There is a new gay bar open in town I here is the bomb. Even better than Michael's 69. I think the name is Bloo I guess it is very trendy and cheek. I get the impression the kind of style like Deseo. Might be worth a look see.
Side note. Its been a while since I've been to Montreal went to school for a while at Laval in Quebec Cite. Loved Quebec! |

I've visited ChicagoGuy and his guy at Aventura Mexicana a couple of times when they were here, and I was very happy with what I saw of the hotel. Nice and clean, mean drinks at happy hour and good location. Have fun!

Hi Sukidog,
As things are turning out, we will most probably make our reservations for the first two weeks of March 2006. I'm preparing a somptuous seafood meal this weekend for my boyfriend and our two good friends to finalize our travel plans to Playa. As bubbles always help to take difficult decisions, I'll also be serving a nice bottle of Champagne or two. Thanks for asking about our travel plans Sukidog. By the way, enjoy your stay in Playa which, according to your counter, is coming very soon. Take care, ...Bad Boy |
