Tequila Festival?
Last year during the first week in November there was a Tequila Festival in Playa. Can anyone tell me if it is an annual event? Will it be going on again the first week of November this year? (oh, I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope!)

We haven't made it to very many peep meets....in our travels to Playa. But I must admit I was hoping to attend the tequila festival this year. Please let us know if you hear of anything. It's been 6 weeks since our last trip to Playa...I am ready to go now! ![]() |

Great, now I'm another year older and in a non fun place, what the heck do I have to show for it besides 20 more pounds and a few extra sun wrinkles? Time moves too fast sometimes...dang straight. But I remember that night too! You were a bit....um, uh, sauced Lakenut! You had us cracking up, and I remember you tried to hook my son up (who was in MX) with your daughter (who was not!). ![]() |

Tequila ????????
I see that some of you have not gotten what I call in the bar business "THE TEQUILA CURE". I was cured of drinking tequila forever about 10 years ago. I got together with my two best friends (we were all from Boca Raton, FL) of about twenty years. We met at the Rancher Bar in Jackson Hole. After 18 shots of Cuervo Gold and 18 Coronas - I had "The Tequila Cure". That also ended my first engagement. She just could not believe that I had past out on the bathroom floor of my hotel. Hate to say it, but I actually drove back to the hotel that evening - luckily, I don't remember that. Luckily, when I did find my vehicle the next morning (had no idea where I had parked it), it had no dents or scratches. I guess that means that I did not hit anyone or anything. Now, with four bars myself, my house is a couple of blocks or so from my bars, so I can usually manage to drag myself home. Also, I do not touch (much as less drink) tequila anymore. I do not even like the smell of tequila - guess that the smell reminds me of that night in Jackson (what I can remember of it!!). Also, I no longer drink Corona.Must have lost a taste for it that night. I will drink Tecate, Sol, Pacifico, and DOS XX. Sorry to be so long winded, but if I can just help one of you achieve "The Tequila Cure", my job is done.

Hey, I have 25 different tequilas at my bars and not one of them interests me no matter what they cost!! Give me JACK D. - at least I can usually remember the night before. I think that tequila should be renamed "TO KILL YA". Last edited by absoluteal : 10-16-2005 at 05:50 PM. |

I guess everyone has their own "cure" they reach at some point. I've been cured of burbon for decades. It's all about finding the right balance to ensure enjoyment, without going overboard. Once you do go overboard, you'll never go back.

Zydeco got "The Tequila Cure" over 25 years ago ~ the night before he went into the Coast Guard. His "friends" left him passed out on the floor of a Dunkin Donuts here in Tampa with his head in the urinal! Zydeco cannot imagine what I like about tequila. He keeps mentioning that he can't even bear to smell it after all these years! To me, a really fine tequila is very similar to a very fine brandy. Out of the blue last night he happened to confess to me that he had "tried" some of the El Jimador tequila I had sitting on the kitchen counter. (Not the greatest, but OK for the price) Guess he didn't gag or get sick, but he said that he kept tasting it the ENTIRE next day ~ and he just can't stand THAT taste! No worries when I finally get up the $$$ and the nerve to buy a bottle of Don Julio Real! It'll be ALL mine! ![]() Last edited by JoanieBlon : 06-15-2006 at 02:46 PM. |

It's not the liquor, it's the mix that makes you ill. I won't drink anything sweet just straight shots of good tequila, scotch on the rocks, rum and soda etc. As long as I stick to premium brands and remember to have some water. Not sure you believe me, then try drinking 2 litres of Coke without any alcohol and see how you feel in the morning - I expect you'll be reaching for the aspirin.

After being a bartender for 16 years, I've been cured of most every kind of alcohol there is and I was almost cured of rum Sat night.
I'm not so sure about the mix theory. Most of what has "cured" me was drunk straight up! |
