certain nations are lining up to pressure the U.S. into turning control of the internet over to the UN......... but I think James does a pretty good job

The Internet should be kept out of control of any govt. agency. It is self managing in a completely chaotic way, and it works. If it begins to get controlled by any govt agency, guaranteed a new network (which I am sure is already under development), will be made public.

I do not think the internet is going to change any time soon if at all. Even if the government tried to control it, there are enough of us geeks out there to make it work on its own.

There are always those people that will make sure that it remains public.

If that is the case, it would cost too much to maintain or continue to fix it for any one group-even the UN. I don't see it happening...

Giving control of anything to any large multi-national political organization is courting disaster - be it the UN or anyone else. The 'net is fine as it is. No one needs to be messin' with it, or I might just have to send Moose and Spike over to have a civil discussion about the issue with them....
