When I first saw the storm as a TD forming it showed it would stay more towards Cuba. But now this is really putting a damper on my travel plans. I am set to be rolling into Cancun airport at 11:11 am on Friday. Hope this thing moves quickly out of the way. Have been looking forward to this trip with ticket in hand since 12-08-04. I am about heartbroken!!!

I am also watching this closely...we are to arrive on Saturday at 11:20 a.m. We have already re-booked this vacation once...we are in Houston and had to postpone our Sept. trip because of Rita. If we have to postpone again, maybe it's a sign I shouldn't be going to Mexico! Ha!

Let's just keep fingers and toes crossed for everyone's sake!!!
I'll keep thinking good thoughts, SuzieQ and SCsun!!!

Just saw this on the news too... I send my best wishes to you Susie! (Just think about all the sunny-margarita beach days after the season is over!)

GO AWAY! Or Better Yet ~ DIE!

Here in Tampa there is some concern that Wilma will pass over the Yucatan, emerge out into the Western Gulf and then push eastward towards central Florida. Yuck!

Yes, I saw it this morning, saying it would hit Cozumel Fri. It will probably be a Cat 1 at the most when it hits, so will probably be alot of rain, hopefully nothing damaging.

I was wondering when someone was going to touch on that subject since it seems like a reality right now. Does not look so good at this point.

Well at least they're now at the last name on the hurricane name-list, so there can't be anymore this year right? ;-)
I do hope so, as I will be going down there Nov. 2nd.

What to do???

For those seasoned travelers to Mexico and locals as well...we have our trip scheduled for Sat. thru Thurs. If the Hurricane hits where they say it will hit, around Cozumel, even though Playa will presumably not take a direct hit, I am assuming that the waters will be so stirred up that the snorkeling will not be good at all. Anyone know how long it generally takes for the waters to settle down? I am contacting Shangri-La again (we had to reschedule once already from Hurricane Rita...we live in Houston) to see by what date I need to let them know if we have to postpone the vacation again.... It's un-bee-lievable we may had to do so again! But, I don't want to go unless we will be able to snorkle, etc. And I am assuming that the hotel will be somewhat damaged as well if it hits.

Thoughts and prayers go out to those living in the area....hopefully the weathermen are way off...Wishful Thinking!

What do the locals think about Wilma?

Just wondering how concerned you locals are about Wilma?

Too early to be concerned. We will take it more seriously if they still have the same projections a couple of days before anticipated landfall. I still have my plywood sheets from Emily, so can wait until the last minute to put em up, if necessary.

I would rather it be a cat 1 than a big tropical storm. Rain is what gives us problems. The wind, we can handle.

Too early to worry about this one. Look how different the models are.
