Just a question.... Is anyone arriving on Friday 10-21-05 on United Airlines Flight 971 to Cancun airport. If so has anyone heard of any cancellations or anything?
Thanks....
(fingers crossed the storm will go away!!!)

There's NO way that ANY airline is going to cancel flights now. It's way too early to tell what's going to happen with this storm.

Thank goodness for this website. This is my 4th trip in a year and a half and I love Playa. I visit this website very often but don't talk much. Hahahaha no one that knows me would believe that, but its true. Just want to pout out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn Wilma!!!!! She ain't gonna stop me, she is going to move off shore!!! Does anyone have any experience with travel during a hurricane? Are the hotels usually easy to re-book because if we can't fly out on Thursday morning, we're coming the second we can.

Snippets from Dr. Jeff Masters' blog @ wunderground.
(Attempting not to take things out of context)

"Intensification into a Category 3 hurricane by Thursday still seems like a good bet."

"This gives me some concern that Wilma may pass close enough to Honduras to create heavy downpours of 10 - 15 inches that would cause severe flooding and significant mudslides. It doesn't take a very strong hurricane to kill thousands in Honduras, as 1974's Category 2 Hurricane Fifi demonstrated."

"The models have reached more of a consensus this afternoon on the longer term track of Wilma. After struggling mightily to properly resolve a weak trough of low pressure over the central U.S., the models now agree that this trough should be able to pull Wilma west-northwest by Tuesday. Later in the week, a strong low pressure system currently bringing rain to southern California is expected to move east and exert a strong pull on Wilma, turning her more northwest by Thursday.

After Wilma makes a landfall near Cancun/Cozumel or a passage through the Yucatan Channel, the trough is expected to pull her northeastward, resulting in a landfall on the west coast of Florida somewhere between Key West and Tampa."

I know most of those living in the US are most concerned about the effects of this one on the US. To some of us, however... those two possibilities are a world apart!

Hey Susie, I think he was just quoting Dr. Masters. I personally would like to stand up to mother nature and volunteer the mid atlantic coast for its fair share.

I hope it passes through the channel and dies out. Won't happen, prolly, but I can hope for it. We're thinking about you and pulling for you.

Actually, I think it WILL go through the Yucatan Channel, you just watch!

But...please don't volunteer anywhere near Joisey for anything! After 15+ inches of rain in just a few days...one more drop and we'll break off from the USA and float away to the UK!

Going throught the channel is a real possibility, it's the dying out part that I am probably pipe dreaming about.

I wouldn't want to see anything bad happen to Joisey but the above scenario would give you free passage to visit royalty again.

What I just saw on our local news shows it going through the channel and coming closer to Cancun with 115 mph winds....and then it will turn towards Florida.

is right. There is just no way to respond to these threads anymore, other than wishing for a miraculous dying out of the storm.

What a season...I guess I never paid much attention before...now it matters because I know so many that are affected by these terrible storms...really puts it into perspective. God willing it will just diminish and stay away.
