Heart test results in
It's been awhile, and I never did get my original account back. Irritates me though, but I guess I'll just have to be second best to myself! Got my heart test results back. There is a problem. The fluttering which a poster said might have been nerves was indeed a true fluttering because apparently the top part of my heart is not working the way it should. The feeling I had like my heart was in my throat was indeed a symptom that I should not have ignored based on everyone around me saying that it might just be stress! Bollocks! It was not in my mind, and it had absolutely nada to do with my father's death as a couple people had mentioned. When you know something feels wrong, just tell everyone around you to go suck and egg and then head to the doctor ASAP. Will keep you all posted. By the way, found out my teenage daughter also has a heart condition and this was just a routine check up she had last week. Genetics suck. Next life I want to be a seashell in Playa. |

pm-d you.
Weird that this thread popped up now by the way- for days I'd been thinking of asking you how things with your thyroid went.......and now this. You're really in a strain of bad luck- poor thing. Last edited by Joana; 10-18-2005 at 03:39 AM. |

Joana, I'm not angry with anyone about their opinions. It's very normal to attribute many symptoms these days to stress, due to the high degree of stress in so many of our lives. However, it would be foolish for us to believe that only stress can cause these things, and we ought to keep searching for answers. Believe me, I would much prefer to be told I'm depressed and take anti-depressants than have a serious health problem.
I'm wondering if the years of Synthroid contributed to this heart condition? I've done some research online and see that some people develop abnormal rhythms from thyroid meds being too high. Still, that wouldn't answer the question of why a young girl also has a heart problem. The doctor said it's the top part of my heart that is my problem, whereas it's the bottom part in my daughter. I am making sure they check her out properly though. She's having an ultrasound to check for thyroid abnormalities as well. Yes indeed, knowledge is power. I believe it's better to find this out before I agree to surgery on my thyroid. I just didn't feel comfortable undergoing that without knowing what was causing these fluttering and palpations, even when I'm sleeping! I've had situations where I was exercising at the gym and simply put the blacking out or dizziness down to low blood sugar. Now I'm not sure. At any rate, more testing is on the horizon. Better to be safe than sorry. And yes, I do feel a bit jinxed these days. It pisses me off for awhile, but then I just move on. No point making my days anymore grim than they already are. By the way Joana, thanks for your IM. Everyone in my real life thought that my symptoms were related to stress and my father's death. But, I must insist that if anyone out there is ever under any type of high stress situation and you notice unusual things going on with your body, please do listen to it and insist on a good checkup. You never know. |

I'm sorry to hear your results
![]() What a year you're having. I can only wish you the best and I hope things improve. In comparison it's completely trivial to say this, so forgive me, but since I've moved to Playa my general health has improved. I haven't had a cold since I left the UK, I sleep well and a veruca on my foot has gone (must be the salt water and not wearing socks). |

Mindbender, I can believe that. There is something almost magical about salt water. Wouldn't mind a couple weeks near the sea.
Yeah, it's been quite a year but I keep thinking about other people who have a lot more to deal with than I do. Besides, I do have a good husband and great kids and some people have great health but shitty spouses and/or kids. |

So sorry to hear of your troubles!
I hope the more tests the dr. take will result in more info to fix you and your daughter right up!Do you think they would write out a perscription for a couple weeks in Playa? Do you think your insurance would go for it? Seems like it would be lot cheaper than surgery or some meds!! I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers and your docs, also. It's really a blessing to have a good and loving family around. Keep us posted. (BTW--really like your new avatar!) |

Thanks about the avatar and the wishes also. I like her too because of the sparkle in the eyes.
I'm keeping busy and not thinking too much about the heart deal. Except I am concerned about my daughter though....she's so young. Still, it's better we find out now than after she became involved in sports and keeled over, isn't it? |

Any news??
Oh- and somewhere you asked wether heart fluttering can be caused by the thyroid......yes it can. Thyroid working to much: faster heartbeat and sometimes arrythmia (or in case the hormone levels are too high due to wrong meds). Thyroid down: slower heartbeat. |
