catalonia riviera

alwaysmissinpdc,

Thanks for the update but is this the same hotel? I'm trying to find out about the Catalonia Riviera(used to be Marival Riviera Maya). Is the Caribe Riviera Maya the same hotel? We are getting excited to go on our vacation but worried that the hotel won't be up to par. Please let me know. Sandibelle1

Anybody heard? I hope they are "just fine" due to the 10th ave location.
Thanks!

I heard from the owner of Casa de Gopala, which is on the same block -- and is one of the other hotels HVDM shares a pool with. Casa de Gopala cames through fine, with some tree/plant damage around the pool area. HVDM is built like a brick sh**house, so I'm sure it did okay.

I did get an email from Sandra, the owner, apologizing for their lousy internet response for our holiday inquiry. So your best bet for complete peace of mind would be to call the hotel direct.

Thanks, I will call in a week or so, if I don't hear back from my email to her.

Good News from Hotel Maya Bric

Looking forward to join in PDC in December; here is what official Maya Bric Homepage announces:
Dieter
News Update
Dear Visitor to the Riviera Maya,

Hurricane Wilma has finally gone and we are all working hard. Cleaning, rebuilding and preparing everything to receive you again.

We had minor damage to the Hotel Tank-Ha / Maya Bric service area, but the guest rooms are not affected.

Electricity, water, phone and internet services are already up again, and since Tuesday, we have been diving (excellent conditions by the way)!

Avenida Quinta is functioning again. We are positive that all other services along the Riviera Maya will be operational again within a few weeks.

OUR HOTEL AND DIVE CENTER ARE OPEN AND WORKING AS USUAL

We are looking forward to have you with us

The Management

I have seen several posts asking the condition of the Riviera Del Sol Hotel located at 1a Avenida Norte and Calle 30 Norte....but no responses. The web site says nothing about Wilma and I have received no responses to my e-mail inquiries. HAS ANYONE SEEN THE HOTEL AND ITS CONDITION OR KNOW OF THE SITUATION THERE???

You may want to e-mail them directly to check but several hotels in the immediate vacinity reported little damage. A few windows and of course vegitation being stripped but that's already growing back. Riviera Maya, Zanzibar & Villa Amanecer are all in the general area.

I have freinds that live at across the street from Shangri-La in the same neighborhood as Riviera del Sol and have said there isn't much damage outside of some Palapa roof and striped vegitation and sand. But they say everything is pretty much back to the same.

I get no e-mail response. Thanks for your info. You're right, those other locations are close and as vulnerable.

I sent an e-mail to Riviera del Sol on 26 Oct and received a response on the 27th.
They basically said they had "some damage, windows, balconys and water inside a few rooms". They were closed at that point in order to do repairs and paint - they were hoping to reopen some time last week.
We're staying there in Feb and think the place is great as is the location.
Hope this helps
