But check with your travel agent or the resort. Really, they are the only ones who will know if they will be "up" to having you large group.

Best of luck! You will look great in white!
Can you tell us which board you found this information posted on? I'd like to take a look to see if there is information on any other hotels. Thanks!

Someone earlier was asking about the Posada Lafitte. Here's some info from another board. I'm not certain where the poster got the information from, that wasn't clear. So take it for what it's worth:

La Posada del Capitan Lafitte received significant structural damage to the dining room and structures surrounding the pool area. 10 rooms along the beachfront are lost. The resort will be reopening prior to Dec. 18th. Actual reopening day will be announced after damage assessment is complete.

First: february is quite some time from now.
Second: damage (mind you: in general) doesn't seem as bad as media would make us believe.
Third: people are working VERY hard to get things fixed as soon as possible, since it's their income that's on the line.

There are recent pics by Steve Ryberg on his website www.playa-maya.com (central PdC) which show before, during and after Wilma pictures of his hotel.

Look up Turquoise Reef Group on the net and they have a list of the small hotels they have in the area, Shangri La being one of them, and the conditions of them.

Shangrila and tuquois reef response

As of today they dont think they will be operational until Thanksgiving.
They have asked turquoise management to wait until then to book.

Turquoise reef also said they would let me know later this week.

Damage to the restaurant, restaurant roof was the most I heard so far but the hotel is still there. They weren't sure of the rooms.

Playa del Secreto

Hi, am wondering if anyone has info on the villas at Playa del Secreto...I know this means "secret beach" and am beginning to wonder if anyone knows about it
I talked to their stateside rep who said the owner of many villas there, including Villa Sarita where I am to stay beg. Nov. 5th evacuated to Cancun and cannot reach there yet to assess the damage.

I organized this trip with 4 other couples who are all panicing even though I told them to chill and wait and see.

Any help is greatly appreciated!! And God knows I hate even asking about a vacation when I know the devestation....I lost a home to Mother Nature (a tornado) in August, and I would not have been thinking of anyone else at that time.

Keep hounding the stateside rep. He'll be your best source of real-time, accurate info. North of Playa up to Cancun took a heavy hit, so people may be having trouble getting onsite to see what's up.

Hello everybody, we're still here! Alive and kicking. Yes, there is damage, lots of it, but we've survived, power is back up, water will be back up tomorrow (we hope), and the tourists will be back the day after tomorrow, right?

Hotel Posada Freud has been cleaned today and we hope to be back online tomorrow to answer all your emails.

Thanks everybody for your concern and we hope to see back in Playa soon,

Monica, Guus, Eric, Carlos, Jessica, Jose, and everybody else at,
Hotel Posada Freud
