first of all: our vacation is NOT that important - people there have other problems now...

but we would like to know if CASA DE GOPALA is in a good state....or will be in a good state on 8th of december...

we wondering how the conditions in tulum are ,we will be ariving nov,10 .we figure tourist money will one step to rebuilding the area.we were booked at the shingra-la caribe, from what it sounds that will not be possible.

Supossed to check in at the Riviera del Sol on the 28th of Oct. Obviously not goingto be possible but does anyone know how much damage they had, and when they are going to reopen? Sure would appreciate your input. Praying for all. Best, Don

This was in another thread, not sure if it should be here, or in Playa area, or what as Puerto Morelos is quite north. Anyway, it's good info for anyone wondering about PM so thought I'd post it somewhere as some may not read that thread it was in:

Report from Yayo and not a good one.
Disaster in Puerto Morelos, he was very shaken up,emotional, Pelicanos gone, dock gone,---the beach extends now for 100 yards--erroded into the land---everything on the beach looks like it is on a cliff and leaning or gone in to the ocean."The whole town is destroyed". Cece's+Margarites house/shop in town is leaning towards the ocean. The grocery store is ok.
Had to litteraly swim to Playa Sol
Villa 6 gone, adn the other in front of Politas i think is gone,Toms villa is now where the beach starts with a 6+ foot drop, his house is on a slab leaning into the ocean. Numerious windows blown out, ground floor units seemed ok,??? Uppers have broken windows. He went into ours(3rdfloor)--three windows broken some but not much water in unit.Very quick call as he was on someones else's phone.
It seems the other bldgs, #8 and back--from his point of view--are ok but the grounds, lamps, palapas ruined. Politas damaged, windowws out--I think from there back was ok.
His fathers house, next to Casita del Mar, house is split in half, the front is gone, the pool and yard is now in the ocean. Ojo is destroyed.
He did see Kris and Bret and they are ok--did not run into Rand but was being hurried out by the milatary. Looters/looting already started. The milatary I beleive was going to stay, I hope.
So sorry to be the bearer of this news. They are going to try to call tomorrow.

I have read that the Blue Parrot condos are full of sand. Is that the new development at the back - off the beach? Has anyone seen or heard about the main hotel building?

being that the hotel is on the beach I would think that it will be closed for awhile....Check there website for updates!

Hi If anyone hears any news about the Hotel Mayan Paradise in PDC I would be grateful of any info.
In the brochure it looks like a wooden hotel rather than a solid concrete one and I am concerned it may not have survived.
