This is the closest forum I could find... the Fox news website has a video labelled "Hit Hard" which shows food being passed out in Cancun, but the important part is that they say they heard the airport may open as soon as tomorrow; however planes would have to bring enough fuel to leave again due to the local supply being contaminated.

If a Cancun forum is created please move this to there.

Senor Frog's Cancun - Before During and After

Notice the building was covered in yellow siding in the first picture.
Also take note of the palms.

I believe credit for these photo's goes to Kevin Alexander Murcko.

CNN just interviewed a gentleman named John Harrell, a resident of Playa who rode out the storm but now was in his car and over 600 miles away on his way to Texas. He reported massive damage, and of the places he was describing, the main thing that I recognized is that he said that all that is left of San Francisco's is the frame of the building.

I just saw on CNN a clip on Playa. The person they interviewed lives in CAncun and works there but has an office in Texas too. He said his apartment is gone and that the grocery store SAn Francisco is gone except for the frame. It sounds pretty bad from this guys view. They showed the town, it looked like was flattened and water very deep. Such a sad thing. I don't see how things can be up and going any time soon, in Playa or Cancun too.

how is this...

from a post on I talked to___

POSTED BY MAYA:
I just talked to Jim again. He took a walk about this afternoon. The roof at the San Fransisco store was good. He actually saw people looting the pharmacy on the corner of 30th and constitution. And the police on the street directing traffic. Oh well, like Jim said at this point what can they do. Many businesses where being guarded though.

Anyone know if the Parrot survived? I know a lot of trendy/local folks don't like it, but it was a big part of the start of the tourist trade, and is as much Playa as anyplace else.

...you are right! I was really impressed when I saw video of everyone down there preparing for the storm. They were taking down signs and everything. The don't mess around and that it why I am hoping for good news.

Thanks for the boost.

Can someone update us on the condition of Xaman-Ha. We have two condos there-both on the 3rd floor - one on the north side-one on the south... also own the big white house across the street. Have not been able to learn of a damage we may have suffered. Did the roo/palapa of the new (old Continental Hotel) survive the hurricane. What is the damage on 5th Avenue?
