We have stayed at the Reef Coco and the Gran Porto and 11/20 we are going to the Riu Playacar. the RPC had guest the entire ordeal and even took guests from other hotels. It had virtually no damage other than vegetation. You can stay at this hotel and use the amenities at 2 others next door. Our only gliche in our upcoming trip was the flight. Worryfree dropped our wed flight and we re scheduled on the Sun before without any problem. This is because with less hotels open in Cancun they are making fewer flights into Cancun. We had the option to go to Puerto Vallerta but still wanted PDC.

It looks stormy and grey because those pictures were taken immediately after the hurricane. It's not stormy and grey now, the weather has been beautiful.

As far as the weather in the future...really not a question anyone can answer and no one can predict what will will happen in the next few weeks.

The pic's say they were taken on the 30th of this month. Other pic's I've seen do look much nicer.. maybe the 30th is just when they put them up. I was a bit suprised that there were still misc. landscaping debris on the grounds still.

The rest of the facility (RIU Palace) looks like it fared very well. :-)

Its getting close to my arrival at the Oasis Playa and I can't getting any info from anyone on the damage or the opening date, not even from my tour operator.

Can anyone give me any information?

Thanks,

Tris.

Tris: this is mainly a Playa del Carmen forum, but I do understand your concern.
Did you try to contact the Oasis Playa directly by phone or e-mail?
If not: here is a link to their official website
You should be able to find their contact page through the navigation bar on the left and find their telephone numbers and e-mail addresses.

This is what I found on Peak Travel dot com

Note: the Peak Travel website does NOT state where they got this info NOR does it state on which day...

thank you for all the updates!
I have been watching this form since I found it 2 weeks ago.
I had some family that stayed in Play before, during and after Wilma that did not come back until this last weekend. They said everyone was wonderful.
We will be down in Playa next week for the first time, we ususally stay in Akulma.
We are bring some friends that have never been to Mexico.
Thank you for all you do.

So sorry if I put this in the wrong place...this is only my second time. Not the computer internet person...doing good to just get my e-mails.

Still looking for any information on Club el Mandarin....

Also, we are booked on NWA for Dec 7th. I received an e-mail from their customer service department stating that no flights have been cancelled and they are still operating all flights into Cancun. However, when I looked on their website I noticed many flights that had been cancelled. I called their reservation phone line, and was told to just watch my flight day to day. Help! How do you know what to believe.

Mayan Palace Damage?

Hi all - I stayed at the Mayan Palace last time and won't be staying there this time around but am curious as to how it fared during Wilma. I can imagine the pool was filled with sand. Wondering if there beach actually improved?? Any other info.? Thanks in advance!

We are going in 11 days. They have just released an e-mail stating that they now have full electricity (air conditioning) and the pool and restaurants are fully open (except the one on the beach). I think they have a few first floor rooms that are being repaired but they seem to be in good shape otherwise. They did say that they had some flooding on the golf course but it is open again as of yesterday. They said that their beach didn't have any damage, but when it is all rocks how could it. Kidding.

They are supposed to be 100% functional by November 11th and they have had crews working days and nights. We hope to have a good time and I am sure we will.

Do you have any advice about the resort? Anything we shouldn't miss (or should).
