Trickle down from wilma

Was thinking of Wilma and all affected and started to wonder about how she will affect the tourist trade and the businesses and individuals dependent on it. Will prices drop to encourage people to come back or will prices increase to pay for damages???

I hope all is well soon and people return quickly to help.

I think it will depend on the goods or services being sold.

I know Hurricane Rita/Katrina made grocery prices sky high here..but the cost of a new car was considerably cheaper (all of the dealerships have deals going on trying to get the business). Apartment rents are the highest I have ever seen in this area (supply and demand)....

It will be interesting to see how Wilma will affect the 2006 travel prices.

Already trips elsewhere in Mexico, to Cuba, and to the DR, from Western Canada have skyrocketed in price.

Good thing we re-booked to Huatulco when we did, maybe, considering it is at Xmas and we wanted to ensure we could get somewhere and stay in our budget.
