Song Curses
Has this been covered too extensively? Thanks to Tex and Ms.Rubio I think of Rubio everytime I hear 'Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off' and I've never even met either of them!! Not that I mind thinking of her, but first of all I don't think of her in 'that way', if you know what I mean.
Secondly, why is it when that happens you can never shut it off? There are certain John Mellencamp songs that make me think of my ex-fiancé So what songs always make you think of a particular person/event? Yes, I am waiting for two or three people (Teezet, Denisea :p ) to provide prior links to this topic. ![]() |

Whenever I hear "Miami" or "Men in Black" by Will Smith (two songs I don't even particularly like btw.!!) I ALWAYS zoom back to Tutix on a hot carribean night, beer in hand, looking out onto the ocean over to the nights on Cozumel.
Which is weird as there are so many other songs that connect me to Mexico (like all the hotel routines....El Tiburon, Maria, La Morena.....) but these two songs do the trick for some reason. OH- and listening to "Bat out of hell" by Meatloaf and "My Michelle" and "Sweet Child of mine" by GnR remind me of driving in the car with my pal Ronnie from Puerto Aventuras (damn I miss that guy!!)...... Aaaand the whole soundtrack to "Azul profundo" reminds me of going to sleep in my appartment in Puerto at night- ocean in the background, doozing off. |

I totally know what you are talking about...bare with me, this is kinda long.
Back in college, a room mate graduated, which callled for mass quantities of alcohol, so I participated! The problem was, I was supposed to go on a cruise with some friends (to Cozumel) and our plane was leaving at 6:30am the next morning...following me on this one? So we are partying like rock stars, havine a great time. I apparently had too much to drink (I don't remember?). Anyway, the phone rings, I answer it, My friend "Hey, where you at?" Me "I'm at home dumbass" My friend "Well the plane leaves in 20 minutes" I guess I passed out? Now I feel like a dumbass...I live 30 minutes from the airport So with no worries and nothing left in my control (I know you are waiting for the point here) I turn up the radio....blasting out to "Sweet Home Alabama"...was the theme song for the entire trip....(btw not really a huge fan of that song, but it caught me at the right moment). Made the flight, barely! Anytime I hear that, can't help but feel my stomach drop, reminding of that initial phone call...in case you were wondering, took me a while to pay for that trip-saw Heat v Knicks playoff game and a Cubs/Marlins game when Sosa hit 2 dingers (when he was good). I'm tired. |

PB you crack me up ...funny thing about this song is that I had never heard it before Tex said it made him think of me...well that same night we were driving to a party and sure enough this songs comes on the radio...I of course thought of Tex. The rest of the night it was in my head too. The one song that always takes me back to a special place is "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meatloaf. This song was played at our wedding reception and the whole routine (if you know the song you know what I mean) was played out with us and our wedding party. We have it on video and it is still alot of fun to watch. Cracks us up everytime. More recently the song Kinz uses in his music video about Playa "How Far is Heaven" by Los Lonely boys always makes me think of Playa...and it is ironic too because I was tanning before we went to Playa this year...and on my last day of tanning before leaving for our trip I walked into the tanning spa and what song comes on the radio ...you guessed it "How Far is Heaven". ![]() And I hope you don't think of me in that way. ![]() |

I hardly ever hear this song any more, but "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" will always remind me of one of the first encounters I had with James, now my darling husband. In high school, on the van to a quiz bowl meet

I'm one of those morose people that has a song I associate with almost every serious ex-boyfriend I had. Which is only about 4 or 5 guys, really. But it makes listening to any station that plays '80's music a dicey proposition. "Won't Hold You Back" by Toto can put me in a funk for hours, even now. Luckily it doesn't get played that often.
And I made a whole CD of songs that remind me of my husband and special times we've shared, for our 15th anniversary... none of them breakup songs, by the way!! As for the forum, "No Shoes, No Shirt" by Kenny Chesney makes me think of Banzoomba, cuz it's in his tagline (and MsRubio's too! Just noticed) . Jimmy Buffett (two t's, dammit) makes me think of Parrothead Shammy. Depeche Mode is associated with Mikey. More will come to me throughout the day..... ![]() Last edited by SunKneeMarie : 10-27-2005 at 05:18 PM. |

Hypnotized--Fleetwood Mac (young Fleetwood Mac) driving my VW bug, smoking, feeling good.
Long Train Running-Doobie's Bros.-8 track tapes, staying up all night at friends partying Bang-a-Gong-T-Rex---serious drugs Any motown--laying in the backyard in our bathing suits (us girls, my sister) the smell of cocoa butter Jeez, I can go on forever. I swear sometimes I can hear a song, and it can put me right there back in time, the feelings, the smells, the thoughts of being young. |

Speaking of another person I have yet to meet but look forward to next February...Mikey...whenever I hear Buffett "Mexico" I think of his Slideshow that we used to watch over and over before going to Playa this past February.
This is what inspired us to do our "No Shoes No Shirt No Problem" slideshow. ...which takes me back whenever we watch it. |
