"I Love Playa" Nerak Beads

I guess I have to say it was Hurricane Wilma's appearance and everyone's concern about our beloved paradise that inspired these "I Love Playa" beads.

(Note: While this photo shows a barrel clasp, I now make the anklets with a lobster claw clasp.)

As you can see, the Mexican flag colors are still there, along with the glow-in-dark beads (off-white in daylight). The hand-done beads, along with the heart and palm trees, are brushed with three (3) coats of polyacrylic to hamper wear-off (NOTE: I recommend not exposing them to water for lengthy periods, as the poly WILL degrade if left wet for a long time, and as I learned during our recent trip to Playa, do NOT expose the hand-lettered beads to sunblock, as the sunblock WILL eat through the poly quickly and cause the lettering/designs to smear - probably best to reserve these beads for evening adornment), and I used the turquoise beads to set off the hand-done beads because that color reminds me of the beautiful Caribbean in Playa. The beads are all "free-spinnin'" (i.e. not glued together).

So, now you can be wear your love for Playa around your neck, around your wrist, or around your ankle and also still be recognized as a Playa.Info Peep!

What's that you say?? You already have Nerak beads?? Well then.... there's no law against wearing two necklaces or bracelets, but how about this as a solution..... give away that "Classic" Nerak necklace as an extra tip (don't do it in lieu of pesos) to your favorite bartender or cabbie or maid! What Mexican patriot wouldn't enjoy wearing the colors of their country's flag?!! (And don't forget to tell them about the glow-in-the-dark beads.... I've heard those beads have "special" powers!! )

Construction:
~Necklaces are strung on hand-tied hemp cord.
~Bracelets are strung on polymer cording which is knotted and secured with crimp beads and allow enough stretch to roll the bracelet up over the hand.
~Anklets are strung on polymer cording and have a metal lobster claw clasp.

Pricing (as of 3/11/06) :
Necklaces: $10.00 (about 32")
Bracelets:* $8.00 (Small=7.25"; Medium=7.75"; Large=9.25")
Anklets: $9.00 (about 10.25")

*Please be sure to specify what size bracelet you'd like!

I'll add whatever the postage weighs in at to mail the items to you, and that will be the total. No payment required in advance; I do this on the honor system. After you receive your items and decide to keep them, mail me a check. Simple!

For every Nerak item sold (whether Classic or Peep Fest 2006 or I Love Playa), I donate $1.00 per item to the Peanut Pet Shelter & Kennel in Playa!!.
