Good to know there are some other timeshare masochists on board. The selection in Playa is pretty much limited to the Mayan Palace and Fishermen’s Village.
The Mayan Palace “tour" is not for the weak – these people are mean and nasty – I have actually seen people come out crying. I’ve been to my fair share of timeshare presentations; in my opinion the Mayan Palace is the toughest. Have fun - |

We were in Cancun in June, for our 25th anniversary- and were caught at the airport to do a timeshare-and boy was I glad- cause now we get to come to Playa instead and come 3 times a year! Can't wait..............Now we will have time to explore, where we never have ventured out of the hotel before- We like Playa much more than Cancun- it is too busy, and the people seem to be friendlier and more laid back in Playa- hope to meet some of these great people while we are there........

Thanks! We were lucky enough to have done the Mayan last year. We went down from Cancun to do that one. They certainly earn their reputation as being the toughest timeshare presentation! I guess we will have to stick to fishermans village. So do the cancun timeshare places have salespeople in playa where they recruit tourists to make the trip up to cancun to do the presentation? I wonder how long it will even take for them to get the presentations back up and running after Wilma. I wouldnt think they would be able to give tours showing their place when its still so torn up.

There used to be a sort of timeshare bizz going on in the Viva hotels- not EXACTLY timeshare in the old sense though. When you buy into their timeshare you buy weeks that you can spend in hotels all round the world- not just one hotel. Unless you want to........
They're in Playacar. |

We went on the timeshare presentation at the Royal Porto Real and it was a pretty good one. They watched our son, fed us, gave us drinks, use the facilities and three passess with transportation to Xcaret. A decent day.

Lovethesun, thanks for the website! But I have noooo desire to actually buy a timeshare. I'm just one of those unscrupulous people who take advantage of the tours for the $$. Last year during our month stay in Cancun we did 7 tours averaging around $225 per tour in cash and gifts. Practice has helped us get in and out in usually 2 hours, so they tend to not be all that painful. Some tours were almost FUN!
, especially when the pina coladas are flowing.
