We are flexible, we’ve never been to the west coast. Our plan will be to fly into LA and visit Cheryl’s (Mrs. Ranger) sister for a couple days. Then drive up to SF and hopefully get to go thru the “Redwood Forest” and onto Eugene. I have figured that to be about 900 miles, any and all thoughts will be helpful. If you have the time and don't mind a windy road Hwy 1 north of SF is about the most beautiful coastal drive in the world. You will stll cut inland and a see the avenue of the giants (big ass redwoods)
You will miss the majority of the California wine country this way, but its worth it. You can take a short side trip off Hwy 1 and go up the Anderson valley ( or any of the other valleys) If you have extra days do both Hwy 1 and the Napa Valley.
