I agree. We love sitting up at the bar in the swings and just watching the world go by. We're often the only ones at the bar.

Are you all talking about the bathrooms by the pool? I'm confused...swings?! I must be thinking of something different! Either way, I'm sure your seats will be waiting for you soon!

I think redhed is talking about the Zubul bar by Coco Beach.
By the way does anyone know if it's still there?

I know the swing bar you are talking about at the Tukan. It is by the bathrooms that are not by the pool. There is an outdoor shower by those bathrooms which is at the south end of the beach club. I have a picture of my husband sitting on those swings. There was hardly anyone ever sitting at that bar when we were there both times.

Gotcha! Thanks Jodeci! After I posted that, I thought maybe it was that structure on the south end. I have never been over there. Thanks for clearing that up!!

I took a walk all the way down by Coco Beach. The hotel to me looks like it is closed for now and being worked on as is Shangri la Caribe and Las Plalpalas.

Lots of work being done at Tukan and Mamitas, the beach even looks bigger than it did on Sunday. Itīs as beautiful as ever!!!!!

Tukan Beach Club begins charging for chairs and umbrellas as of tomorrow. They had been free, but with the beach coming back and more tourists, it's time to make a peso again.

I had two beers there this afternoon. It's still largely in the "damaged" column, with bulldozers still moving lots of sand back and workers all over the place. I have a bunch of images to put up.

Has anyone walked past the Gran Porto Real? If so,hows the beach? We were originally staying at the Gala starting Dec.3RD but found out today that Conqest Vacations has canceled that flight. Fortunatly we were able to get a package with another tour operator for Dec.4TH staying at the GPR. Selection was limited,so were hoping we made the right choice. Any info would be great!

Sorry. I'm not sure what else to say, but it is any information, so I hope it is great.

I know…. You want more. I don't have photos, but they would not be relevant. There are some serious work crews doing fix up and sand relocation etc etc. I would expect that by December the beach will be very very sandy and the mostly will be NA and the work crews will be long gone.

While I prefer the smaller hotels, if I had to stay in a large one I would choose the Gran Porto Real. And I would be confident about a Dec 1 stay in that hotel.

Next spring!!!!!! The goal is to be open for the Jazz festival on November 17. I would not be surprised if they phase is the opening during this week. FEMA is not running the show down there. Next spring is not an option.

Mamitas opening the 17th

I just made my reservation at the Riviera del Sol and asked about the status of the beach clubs. Lovely Fabiana says that Mamitas is reopening on the 17th. Just hold on for one more week, and you can all have your beach jones fed.
