Early Christmas Present

At the normal prices the AI's charge here in Playa, it is almost impossible for the normal working (Mexican wages) stiff to stay at one. With Wilma, some of the hotels are offering 50% discounts. My wife and I thought that this may be the one chance we would get to stay in one, and booked the weekend in the Riu Playacar.

I know, it might be a mistake to book in hurricane season, but the weather looks OK for the next few days. I will post my trip review (a trip of about 2 miles) next week.

Don't forget the going-thru-customs-at-cancun part in your report...

Congrats, and have fun!

I know you don't have to tip...
...but if you do...
...will you tip in pesos?
Just wondering.

Have a great getaway!

That's a great idea and quite an incentive to get those tourists back.
Now, when will the airlines follow suit??? Spent the day looking for flights from LAX to Cancun at Christmas for my sons, and oh boy, it is terrible!

That's cool...and the best part is....if you forget to pack something, you can just go home and get it. Be sure to try some of the local restuarants.

In the event of a weather event, I will not evacuate. I have no trip insurance, and I am going to get my money's worth, even if it means I have to cook my own buffet.

Good for you!! That is sooooo FUN!!! Have a wonderful time!!! Are you gonna rent a car?? If so, be careful... I hear those Mexican drivers are nutz! I'd lend you my Mapchick map, but it's already loaned out to another forum member.
