Has anyone been to Muyil ruin?
I am interested in seeing some ruins but have already been to the major ones in the area (Chichen, Coba, Tulum, San Gervaiso). Are there tours by plane running to Tikal from PDC?

Yes, we've been to Muyil. Took a group down there last December. We hope to return this upcoming trip and have one of the local guides take us out in a boat through the canals. More detailed info on Muyil can be found in the "read more" tab (located at the top of the page)... click here.
If you've never visited the ruins of Ek Balam, I would highly recommend visiting them. They are just north of the city of Valladolid and can easily been done as a day trip. More detailed info on Ek Balam can also be found in the "read more" tab (located at the top of the page)... click here. |

there's an article on Muyil in our MundoMaya section. You should check out Ek Balam. Very nice.
edit: Denisea beat me to it!

Ek Balam = Ek cellent choice!
One of the great things about making the trip to Ek Balam year after year is that you can see how the restoration of the site is progressing. It's pretty spectacular.
We particularly enjoy visiting what we call the Mosquito God. (He looks to us as though he's engaged in one of my regular QR activities -- slapping at mosquitos.) ![]() |

Thanks! Great photo!
It's good to know that they are continuing excavation on these sites.
I would love to go back to Coba and Chichen and see what the differences are. This is one of the reasons I love Mexico so much... it's not JUST a beach vacation! |
