How is the Construction on 8th around Alhambra and Playa Maya are things completed or is the construction still going on? Also did Alhambra remove some of their rooms on the ground floor? Dave

There is construction but as a guest of Playa Maya we have not noticed it much. On the north side of the street there are always workers around and frequently a small bob cat moving gravel, etc. All of this activity is associated with the Mosquito Beach construction.

The road is completed except for the few places still dug up for Mosquito Beach work and some of the semi-circles Steve mentioned that are still waiting for trees and sand to fill them in. The only issue with the construction is the need to side step the occasional stray bob cat.

As far as the rooms at Alhambra, I don't know of any change to their room configuration.

So.... Wilma didn't fill them in with enough sand?

The Alhambra eliminated one small ground floor room [north side, beach front ] and combined it with some existing underutilized space to expand kitchen and to add a fabulous bar and inside restaurant overlooking the beach.

Thanks Don,

Is the Dive Shop still part of the Mosquito Blue Two property?

Check out the pics on page 2 of this thread, I think they'll show you that the dive shop is gone. It's also the thread where construction updates are being posted most often.

Actually the word all along from the Tank-Ha people is that they will continue to have a point of sale type location there. They're just not finished.

Alhambra also has not finished the conversion of some of their former room space near the front on the street side to a dining area, for the record. (Sounded from a comment above like they had.)
