BYOB on the beach?
We will be at Shangrila Caribe 12/8-15, and I read on another thread that someone recommended bringing a collapsable cooler and buying ice and beverages for the room at a store about a block away. While I plan on ordering drinks on the beach sometimes, I'd also like the option of stocking the cooler and bringing it out. Is this OK to do? I know some places I've been to (not in Mexico) don't allow you to have your own food and drinks.

I think that it won't be a problem if you're by your hotel (but you'll have to check with them of course). If you go to a beach club that also has a bar/restaurant they sometimes allow it, sometimes not, and sometimes they have a fee for bringing your own cooler. If you don't use chairs/umbrellas from an establishment, but are on the sand they can't really say anything about it. The beach is public property and you are allowed to bring/drink beer etc to the beach.
