Bloody Chicas Kitchen reopens!

Bloody Chicas Kitchen, across the street from Mom's hotel on 4th street between 25th and 30th is a little restaurant run by two young Mexican women, Mayte and Alex. Mayte's boyfriend is Keith, the English guy who runs Cpt. Dave's/La Fortuna Bar on 10th ave. They got their name from Keith's exasperated, "Bloody chicas!" when referring to Alex and Mayte.

They serve homecooked, yummy food, with daily menu items for comida corrida and some everyday items like fried "Kentucky-style" chicken, fish 'n' chips, and occasionally chicken curry. My bf particularly loves their torta Cubana, which is a huge sandwich with everything you can think of on it, beans, avocado, egg, ham, onion, mayo, etc. It's strangely delicious.

Monte, that's a stroke of friggin genius!!! James, get each of the restaurants on your website to contribute a recipe and compile them in a cookbook and then in turn, sell them online and in the stores that are also listed on your website. "A Taste of Playa- The Playa.info Cookbook"

Besides being a possible money maker, it's a great marketing tool for the website, the contributing restaurants and all of Playa!

Send all business proposals to me via PM

A Playa cookbook would be very cool. We all seem to be a bit obsessed with food. I would certainly buy one...cant do the metric thing though.

Keith's influence is also seen in the "fish & chips" platter - with a large portion of French Fries! A good choice, at a good price.

They re-painted and added a new roof after Hurricane "Wilma."

It just reminds me of the very few times my dad would venture into the kitchen--he could NOT get through a meal preparation without injuring himself and bleeding into the food. He'd grate his knuckles when making scalloped potatoes, chop his finger along with the stew meat... "extra gravy" he'd call it...

A friend in "graphics"... gives the t-shirt the proper slant, I'd say....

Yeah, I didn't think much of the name when they opened, either, but understanding where it comes from has helped me out a bit.

And I do really appreciate everyone NOT turning this into some philosphical exploration of a woman's natural cycles.

Oooops.
