Baked Goods
While in Playa last week (it seems like MUCH longer ago than that now...especially since my high temp today is supposed to MAYBE hit the freezing mark) we found a little hole in the wall market on 5th way on the South end near the square and the ferry dock. Right inside the door were these racks of pastry type things with various kinds of meat and cheese in them. Further back there were more racks full of sweet pastries, cakes and such. These things were fantastic! We picked up three different (very large) pastries for the next morning and two drinks and the total was only 23 pesos!
What is the name of this place? Also, can anyone give me the names of some of these pastries (I know one was a spice cake type thing with raisins and one was a long 'sweetbread' with a little ribbon of chocolate through the middle) so that I might know what to look for here in Columbus. There is a large hispanic population here and I'm betting I can find a cool bakery if I only know what to look for. |
