Am just now catching up on this thread. I'm very thankful the news is getting better for your mom. I know how scarey it is for you guys. I know that God hears and answers prayer. I'm so glad he's healing your mom. My prayer is that she will continue to improve and gain all her mental functions again. I tell ya, it seems this Thanksgiving has been difficult for a lot of peeps. Keep the faith.
God is able! |

Update on Mom.
Mom went into surgery this morning at 10cdt until 4 this afternoon for a skin graft to close her abdomen. All infection under control. Surgery went well. We hope this will be the last of surgery. Nurse says she is taking commands well. (This I would love to see. I have a hard time believing my mother taking commands from anyone. She didn't even take commands from my father.
) Next step is let this graft heal. She does have 2 drains in so this should keep infection at bay. After this heals we are on to the business of rehabilitation. Its going to be long but I have faith she'll be walking the beach before no time. Thanks again all for your support. It has really helped me through this trying time. When she is up and about better I can't wait to show her this thread. I think she will be very impressed. ![]()

Good news about your mom! Will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. Healthcare here in the Cities provides lots of great options so I know she'll recover soon!

But one thing I have learned is that if patients make improvements quite quickly they usually have a very good chance of getting back to completely normal or at least very close to it. So I think there is a lot of hope for her. Keep your spirits up!! (I'm sure a thought about her will cross my mind again and again in the next weeks as I'm on "duty" with the neurologists on the units and in the surgery for a bit now. I will be very interested to hear how she is doing!) |
