UK Trip cancelled

We were due to fly with My Travel out from London on 13th Dec staying 2 weeks in Viva Azteca. Guess what...... holiday cancelled today.
We are very disappointed, it looks like we will have to stay at home this Christmas.
To make it worse it's just started to snow!!!
Thanks for all the info on this site I really enjoyed researching.

Virgin and American can get you from LHR to CUN with two stops inbound and one stop on the way back for around $900 US round trip (tax included).

Captain Nemo, Thomsonfly have resumed direct flights from London Gatwick (may be combined with pick-up at Manchester) to Cancun. Return flight on 11th December is £69.50!!! Thinking about going myself having checked that one out!

You can still go . Thomson, Thomas Cook and First Choice are both offering Charter flights for the Christmas and New Year period. Monarch as well I think. Take the plunge and book the flight and accomodation separately. If the flight prices come down low enough for our budget, we'll see you there!

I agree. It is easy to find a cheap room. Try Tropicalcasablanca.com. I'm sure Reyna will sell you a room for $50 or $60 USD a night. You just need cheap air fare and I'm sure that can be had. Listen it started snowing this morning here on my way to work. I say get out while the gettins good! Bring a box of Christmas crackers that you can share with some Yanks on the beach.

Lillibet,

Thomas Cook have cancelled all flights to Cancun until 3rd Feb 06 and Cosmos have cancelled until 29th January 06. As far as I am aware, Thomson is the only UK operator currently flying to Cancun. Thomson are selling packages but only to the RIU hotels in Playacar.

Friends joining us for Christmas in Playa had their flight cancelled. Their group rebooked on another flight (different company) and saved $2,000 CDN. That will more than pay for the whole groups food and cerveza while in Playa.
Rebook and go.

Can't they send you to Playa instead? We're doing fine.

Sorry guys,

We have flights booked from Ireland to Gatwick, London so we are really tied to what flights we can go on. Some options that I could find meant over 30 hours travelling and with kids and leaving Cancun on Boxing Day they weren't for us.
So as I didn't want to disappoint the kids we are going to Disney World - not the relaxing holiday I've yearned for.
There's always next Christmas but I certainly won't be travelling with My Travel again.

Best Wishes and have sunny Christmas

Capt Nemo,

What happened.

We are due to fly out on 20th Dec to Viva maya, Azteca sister hotel.

Our holiday arranged with First Choice.

Our neighbour is pilot with First Choice and flights to Cancun resume this week.
