Time Share Harrasment
Hi folks,
Been reading your forum for a few days now. Our crowd is considering an AI in Playa in the near future. We usually cruise the Caribbean and have had several occasions where we are hassled by the Time Share sales folks while sitting on the beach. They just wouldn't take no for an answer. How is it at the large AI's in Playa? We're looking at the Aventura Spa Palace. Thanks! |

I was approached by a fellow Canadian at the Occidental Allegro. He was quite pushy, which I found funny considering I don't think I have a neon sign on my forehead that says "Keep asking because I don't really mean NO!".
He kept offering to take my husband and I for breakfast at the Occidental Xcaret hotel, or pay for a spa day, or take us on a snokelling trip. The only reason we were at the Allegro was that we were waiting for the shuttle to take us to Xcaret that day (we were staying next door at the Royal Hideaway). Finally he gave in and said something along the lines ... "Well, I gave it my best shot. It's my job to offer this incredible opportunity. As a Canadian, you understand." Actually, as a Canadian, I didn't. I must say, that I think you're pretty safe along the beach from being harrassed by anyone. I found security to be good and didn't let anyone get close to the beach chairs if they weren't staying at the hotel. My husband had to walk down to the surf line to purchase some nice Cuban cigars off of a guy. |

My wife works for a LARGE timeshare exchange company. We travel all over to a variety of timeshares. Over the years I have devolped a method that has (so far) not failed in getting the timeshare sales to stop in their tracks.
When I/we get approached. I simply ask; "Do you know what XZY Company (LARGE exchange company) is?" If the sales guy knows the business he will say; "yes". My reply; "I work for them." You can substitute any major resort name - Marriott, Wyndham, Hilton. --LndShrk |
