Hong Kong

We ate at the Hong Kong on saturday afternoon , next time I will get the food delivered as I am not too keen on eating food from a paper plate with a plastic fork ! The food was ok and the restaurant was very busy but it is a bit of a pain getting back to playacar ( you have to cross the highway immediately to get the retorno ) . Basically it is the chinese version of Mcdonalds .

Yep, fast food Chinese. Nothing upscale about it, but there aren't too many options around! I'm glad they were busy again. Seems like they are doing well!

White, yes. As in the Beluga whale. We're used to the white, red, brown rotation of colours every week here!

See if you can manage to stagger the full extent of 5th Avenue. The dip at the Tukan normally finishes off our heavier/lazier visitors along with the prospect of simply crossing Constituyentes Avenue to the northern part of 5th. It's a shame because there's new architecture to take in, great bars and cool restaurants like Sol Food etc.

Actually Mindbender I am rather fit and able bodied....the white bloated state of being is relative. Drinking and eating too much for a week in Merida then heading to Playa to explore and play in the sand. You see it is -23 Celcius here and my bod hasn't seen the sun since September. Oh I just can't wait for February

I wouldn't compare it to MuckDonalds food though, only the style of premises.

I can only dream of the day....how did you end up living in Playa. Not a food critic are you?

It was my turn to live in my wife's country.

I'm a critic of everything, I'm a designer!

I was handed a teaser menu for this place by a guy trolling the neighborhood before their grand opening, which was on November 21st. On the menu, they listed their assets: dine in, take out, delivery, and Hong Kong Car. Whatever Hong Kong Car is, that struck me as so funny that I now call the place Hong Kong Car. Can't wait to try it.

Think they are referring to their drive thru. If I remember correctly, the box you order from says that at the top. Funny!

I just checked and the only vehicle that I could find that is make in Hong Kong is a Rickshaw. Was there a Rickshaw around by any chance?

I believe they use rickshaws instead of scooters when delivering your food.

Well I hope they're Hummer Rickshaws, considering the bloody awful drivers in this town!
