Manne's 4th anniversary party
For anyone who missed it December 1st was Manne's Biergarten 4th anniversary party, it was a great time and Manne and Susie as always showed everyone a great time. I have some photo's I'll post when I get back of us helping setup, for some reason we didn't get pictures during the party something to do with no free hands and this mornings headache. If anyone did get pictures please post them so we can see if we looked as bad as we feel today.

Don't miss Manne's Wednesday Night Ribs, or the Friday Night Roasted Pork Loin! (Or his "home-made" Tequila! You'll be saying, "Guten Abend.")

Hey Beer:30, guess we missed you at the Beer Bucket on Monday and then missed ya at the Tequila Barrel on the 30th...may have seen ya though and didn't know it was ya'll. We returned yesterday and the weather in Dallas, although better than most places was cold! I had my shorts on an short sleeve shirt and it was in the 40's. We'll be headed back down in January. Sounds like you all are having a great time. Go Cowboys, beat the Giants Sunday!

Omg- there is a BIERGARTEN in Playa now?? Must have opened right after the last time I was there.
Ugh. In my opinion one of the last things Playa needed....but I can see folks who are not from Germany disagree. ![]() |

) he had wonderful, home-cooked tasting Rouladen, like something his mom would whip up in the kitchen! Serves meals in a small restaurant in front, the Beirgarten is in back of the place. Get that free shot with the deal card to top it off!! ya gotta try it when you're there!Glad someone spoke up about Manne & Susie. Jutta & I had been wondering how he fared in the storm. Manne's Biergarten is an excellent diversion regardless of your ethnic background. They welcome everyone there, even us lame Americans! Although I mainly drank bier while I was there, I did try a few shots of their unbranded brown bottled tequila, which I thought was excellent. We'll have to get some tequila connoisseurs over there to give us their take. When I do my bar crawl on March 1st, 2006, it'll be one of the places on the list.
Although I missed the anniversary party, my traveling partner managed to attend and said it was terrific. According to him, the crowd spilled out into the street, which is my idea of a successful party. Jimmy Last edited by JimmyMN : 12-04-2005 at 12:31 PM. |

The pics are funny as I could tell right away who Manne was.....don't know how to describe it but there certainly IS a European look.
So- do they serve German beer there? Like Hefeweizen and such? Or rather Budweiser? As for Gulasch and Rouladen- ugh. Heavy food in hot weather...not for me. I'd rather stick to my ceviche..... |

thread bump for a worthy subject
Michael and I had dinner at Manne's again last night, very very good, as usual. I had the Schweineschnitzel (or however it's spelled), which is the thinly pounded, lightly breaded pork dish, with homemade, absolutely delicious red cabbage and german potatoes, while Michael won the informal "entree" competition with the beef goulash with spaetzle and red cabbage. They also bring fresh bread and garlic cream sauce (!!) to every table. Portions were enormous (I brought my leftovers to Cpt. Dave's Craig the human garbage disposal) and the bill was extremely reasonable. Two entrees, 3 draft beers, 2 bottled beers, and 2 shots of tequila were 222 pesos, pre-tip. But he gave us the shots for free. Great place.
Wednesdays they have BBQ ribs night, and Fridays they have roast pork. |

...or "Bones!" Last October, I took "Bones" and Grady there for the ribs. Grady collected all the left-overs for his dog, and later said that while washing his face, the seat came down, and hit him on the back of his head!
Perhaps not a typical Playa menu, but still great! The "home-made" tequila is good, and he usually has draft dark Modelo. |
