info on hotels

I tried going through all of the messages to find out the status of two hotels. Any word on the condition of Xpu Palace and Playa Car Palace? Hopefully, I have the names of the hotels correct as I am helping my wedding guests obtain info. Thanks for any information.

Xpu-Ha Palace is closed, with no reopening date in sight.

Playacar (which is one word... not two) Palace is scheduled to re-open on December 15th.

They way they were working on it this past week I thought they were trying to open this week. On the 3rd of December they were moving the towels and bedding in, I guess they are just about ready.

Having just got back from PDC last wk, we were down on Xpu-Ha beach at Cafe del Mar (fabulous beach if you've not been there, and great little restaurant by the Copocabana Hotel). Anyway the owner of that restaurant, was telling us that the Xpu-Ha Palace will never be reopening. I noticed it had not progressed any further than the damages sustained from Emily in July, (we were there 10 days after that one too!) and they were not planning on doing any more repairs. Something about the owner of the hotel lost it to "the woman" (can only guess at some sort of divorce settlement perhaps) and they went to court, the woman won and will not be opening it as it used to be....whatever that means! The good thing for everyone else does mean this beach is gloriously quiet with 1 hotel not full of guests filling it up!

Correct, Xpu Ha Palace isn't reopening. But the Playacar Palace is about to open anyyyyyyy day now!

Hope that you had a good trip. Do you think we will be able to walk through to get to Xpu-Ha beach from Barcelo Maya now?

I honestly don't know. At one time this summer, someone tried to do that but there was a guard on the Xpu Ha property that turned them back. But I can't see them placing a guard there now...not with all that has happened and the fact that it's not going to reopen. But I really don't know if you can get through there or not.
