Thank you so much.

[quote=Heather]Ok, I saw J&J baby shampoo, but not the other stuff and not Pampers. Even if they did have this stuff, I'd recommend you bringing your own anyway, since they might not have it in stock when you got here. If your son has to use these products for his sensitive skin, you don't want to play the in-stock gamble game.

I've seen HP at both Pacsadeli and Dac. Incidentally, I bought a bottle of A-1 at Walmart, thinking to myself, "I'll splurge." How sad is my life??

Thank you Heather! I was in PdC for an extended stay and noticed that it was difficult to find peanut butter. I thought that I was tough and could do without my favorite US foods, but then I started to go into PBJ withdrawals.

Wow I just got back from my first bigger shop there and I'm going to go ahead and assume I just happened to get the greenest employee there for a cashier. Full 15 minutes waiting as she went through the couple ahead of me's order and about 20 mins for me. Every single fruit and vegetable had to be looked up on the list to get the number to punch in. Then about 20% of them she actually didn't know the name of so had to ask other people in the line and other employees. Is Broccoli that odd down here? That you wouldn't know what it was called? Anyway made me a little late for work this AM but I felt bad for her as I was one of the more patient people in line.

That was atypical I think right? Or have other people seen that? I'm guessing with more practice they'll get to remember the codes on most produce so not have to look em up.

The girl I had last week was also very slow, and had to look up every fruit/veggie. She also asked me what kind of apples I had (Granny Smith, my favorite, not always found here). I'm sure this will improve with time.

It is not atypical. service will get better once employees memorize the codes for products. We are just used to having clerks almost trained before they interact with customers. Also, in the US, we are always in a hurry, so for some of us it is important that everyone else accomodate us. It represents efficiency and good service. On top of that we expect politeness and a smile.

I don't know if this is the case for broccoli but depending on the region in Mexico, some veggies or fruits have different names. For example in some parts of Mexico, mushrooms are called hongos and in others champigniones (sic). Eggs are referred to as blanquillos in some places and in others, huevos.

Just one more month for us until we arrive!!! Whoopieeeeee!! We cannot wait!!! Hope to run into some of you Playa folks from this board here as we venture into all the places you have told us about trying!!

Wondered if the new Wal Mart carried any mens bathing trunks?? Or mens sandals?? We always look for those kind of items when we're out of town. Its always fun to wear them the next time and say we got them at Wal Mart in wherever we may be!!! Hehehe!! Always find these kinds of items pretty cheap when we are out of town and feel like we get some pretty good bargains!!

They do, but the prices weren't so hot. San Fran is a much better deal, so I'll continue to go there for that stuff until Walmart shuts 'em down for good. They had Budweiser 6 pack cans for 51 pesos, I just had to buy a 6 pack for my bf, since that used to be his beer of choice.

A bottle of Bailey's was 167 pesos. A bottle of "fake" Bailey's was 131 pesos (!). The fake Bailey's at San Fran is only 80 pesos.
