Houston Hotel Question

Question for all you Houstonians. My wife has booked a cruise for us which leaves from Galveston. We are flying into Houston the day before the cruise.

Any suggestions for a nice hotel to stay with the kids? I would prefer to be close to the port, but that is not critical.

Thanks for any suggestions.

i was on royal carribean. also check out the flying fish. they were every where.
look like birds but you will see them enter the water and stay.

Plenty of places to stay in Galveston (Days Inn, Holiday Inn etc) as well - when are you going ?

We have stayed at Moody Gardens (lots for kids to do) and at the San Luis....

Do a search for Cruise Hotels in Glaveston, alot of them offer free shuttle service to the cruise ports

We are going spring break. I was surprised when I looked for a couple hotels near the port and they both showed no rooms available.

My wife did inform me that one of the ports is Cozumel. I'm looking forward to hoping on the ferry and spending the day in PDC. As long as they didn't let me have the entire vacation, I can dream about my day in Playa. The hard part will be deciding which food to eat during my limited time there.

have fun jt
last week the port of cozumel docks were not back together. they tendered us to shore which sucked. they let everyone that paid for cruise ship excursion go first. then everyone else. put me later than expected in PDC

Spring break will be a busy time in Galveston but you should be able to find something if you book now. Call the hotel directly you may have better luck.

Thanks for the help guys. I look over the weekend and try to book something. I figure worst case is we could always stay in Houston at the galleria and let the girls go shopping before the cruise. I have not been to the galleria in 23 years.

Bigdave - I was already thinking about the time line to get on shore in Coz. if the pier is not up 100% by then. Maybe I'll find a cheap excursion to pay for just so I can get off the ship quicker and than bail on the excursion and head to Playa. I am already resigned to the fact that I will not make it early enough to grab some tacos from the carts down by the bus station.
