Newbie needs advice
HI All! I have been a "lurker" since my finace and I decided on Playa del Carmen for our honeymoon a couple months ago. This forum seems great for info and advice - so here's my question..
We had hoped to go to Aventura Spa Palace May 1-8, 2006 (it's booked) We are now considering Riu Palace, Dreams Tulum and El Dorado Royale. We are "foodies", would like some pampering (it's our honeymoon) and still would like to enjoy activies / nightlife.. Any suggestions on these three? Or am I wanting too much... Thanks!! ![]() |

Secrets Exclence
My husband and I went to SE in April and thought that it was fantastic. This was our first all-inclusive resort and I can't tell you how amazing we thought that it was. It will be tough for us to go to another AI and not compare it to SE. We had a swim up room which we thought was worth the extra $. We loved being able to walk out of our room and right to our back yard chairs at the pool. The service and the food were excellent. The only thing that was not as great as I hear of other places is that the water is not as clear due to the reef that is out off of the shore. This did not bother us the water was still clean and swimmable just had some sea grass in it.

UG!!!! We are the most indecisive people alive!!! Shammy also suggested the Riu Palace Riveria Maya. The RIu is less expensive than Secrets (and El Dorado).... Here is my thing...the beds. i guess there are no true "king" beds - and instead they push two doubles together. Shammy had said this was no big deal to her...just looking for a consensus! Thanks..

Yep, I don't know of another resort that has their beds the way the Riu's do. It is a tad unusual.
And I actually think they may not be two doubles but two queens...the bed was REALLY big! Not sure on that though. What do you think Cuff - two doubles or two queens? |

You will absolutely want to try some of the places in town for very good and...by and large...very reasonable priced food. |

We LOVE good food! And as I said to Shammy - are we going to chose a reosrt based on the bed???
Thanks everyone for your input!! Need to have hubby to be read all this and hopefully we can make a well-informed (and agonized over) decision. Tough when two anal, perfectionists get together! |
