Riu Tequila Swim up Bar
Anyone out there that has been to the Tequila lately can you help me out, we are going Jan 20th for one week we have a 10 year old and a 9 year old, I heard from someone that heard from someone that the kids are not allowed to go to the swim up bar to order a soda or anything, is this true, we have been to two other Riu's in the past in Dominican Republic and this was never a problem, just thought I would try to find out, I will have one unhappy boy if he can't order a coke once in a while from the swim up bar.

I don't know about the Tequila because I never stayed there, but I have never heard this before. I took my kids to the Riu Palace in Oct. and they both (10 and 13) were able to order sodas/virgin drinks from the swim up bar so I don't know why your kids couldn't do the same at the Tequila.

swim up bar
Thanks Shammy, you helped me before on deciding on the Playa Tour of Tulum and Beyond which I have booked, you come through again, it didn;t make sense to me, we visited the Riu Bambu and The Riu Bachata and they were always allowed at the swim up bar, my friend said she read it on the Debbie Forum, I couldn;t find anything there like that, I think it is like anything, if your kid is at the bar splashing disturbing everyone then they should be booted out of there, Can you answer this Shammy, since I have your attention, we are booked with Apple out of Detroit, do we have to pay any type of departure taxes when leaving Cancun, I know in the past we have always flown out of Canada since we live in Windsor and we had to pay departure taxes at the airport to leave Dominican Republic, want to make sure I put aside the money, Thanks for all your help

i never got into the pool there..........order a soda for him. tons of waiters around the pool and beach. i do remember one of the swim up bars somewhere was really tall. a child would not have been able to reach it without standing up on a bar stool.
which is kinda dangerous. good luck and have fun |

Hey Matfel,
Just got back from the Tequila last week. Kids are allowed at the pool bar. I gave the kids some tip money to give to the bartenders. There's a great bartender named Fransisco there and he'll take care of all your beverage consumption needs
