It's a Canon ELPH point-n-shoot in a housing using the stock flash. Mitch sets the white balance at depth and gets as close to the subject as possible. You are pretty much limited to close-ups but those are what you usually want. Mostly.

Very Impressive pics

Stogey has taken some pretty good ones but the clarity on these was unbelievable. Thanks for sharing. Hi to Mitch!

Wow, those are so much nicer than anything I've ever taken underwater, I need a proper camera I guess. The lighting looks so perfect, mine are always too blue looking.

That motivates me to get my ass out there in the next couple weeks. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, those are amazing pictures James! The clarity and detail made you feel like you could reach out and touch the subjects of them.

I admit that the thought of being that close to any type of shark is kinda freaking me out! I think that's what makes me nervous about snorkeling. I admit to being a chicken LOL. Too many shark movies I guess!

I'm Jealous

Wow James, the pics are awesome and highly professional looking. The temp here in Ohio was 14 F. last night, so that water looks really inviting. You folks do get to play in Paradise. Hope to again in the near future. Paul D.

Thanks for posting the great pictures.

I didn't know Canon had a housing for an EOS. Do you have a link showing this?

Fantasea?

Hey James,

is Fantasea a Dive Shop or just the name of the boat?
I think i went out on a diving Boat named Fantasea.
Do you remember the names of the other dive instructors?
I just wondered wether it was the same boat?

Slipped on my acronyms. It's a digital ELPH. An S500 or a variant of that. But you can find housings for EOS cameras. All are made by 3rd party manufacturers, AFAIK.

I posted it was four of us, Jason and his (ex) girlfriend (owners), Mitch and myself. They are operating out of Captain Dave's on the beach, which has a new bar and palapa, BTW.
