A friend of mine, who is in the know (or so he says), told me that there have been so many fraudulent insurance claims, that the companies are now microchecking all of them. The original plan was to make quick payouts, as per the request of the President. As usual, a few bad apples have made that impossible, and now everyone has to wait.

Spoke with America West Airlines this morning. The flights #315 on the 23 and 24 from Phoenix to Cancun only have a couple of seats available. My brother who works for a competitor of America West, spoke with one of his "contacts" at AW and he was assured they will be flying over the Holidays! Chritmas Day is sold out. So although Steve said it would have been great to meet you, he hopes you have an awesome Christmas in Playa instead.

Thanks for the update I've heard a lot of pretty negative things from Cancun locals who I've met spending time in Playa but its good to know that if you go there with an open mind things are really looking up. I think I'll go up next weekend to take some pics and such and help out the economy with a little spending.
