High quality sandals/ shoes
Again its time to talk sandals.
The list for a perfect pair... light rugged grip for hiking. tight fit to ensure stability. FAST DRYING -cause they will get wet. fast draining so they dont stay heavy after getting wet. Toe protection. These are my needs, have the manufacturuers been listening? My last pair of teva wraptors now smell too bad, so I need new ones. The short list of ones that fit all or most of my requirements. Teva rydecker salomon techamphibian keen boulder or any others that have treated you well. I would like another pair or wraptors 1 or 2 but they seem tough to find. |

this one was just covered last season, wasn't it? I believe there are a few threads already existing with lots of testimonials.

Sandals
Last spring, I took a pair of Keen hiking sandals (stretch straps, Teva flipflops (the thin ones), a pair of Keen flipflops with the toe protector and some plain zori sandals. I was in Playa for six weeks. Also, I am shoe crazy. I really like the Keen sandals for walking around ruins etc. This shoe has nice traction and dries fast. They were great for climbing the main pyramid at Chichen Itza. The only problem with them is that if your feet have the tendency to swell like mine do, you will be miserable. If not, then these are great sandals. The toe protection is great expecially if you are wading in rocky areas.
The Keen flipflops were a painful experience; they are not good for walking. I got blisters on the bottoms of my feet. I wore out the Teva's. On that trip, I missed my Chaco sandals. The straps are adjustable; this is a great feature for when my feet become inflated. In May, when I return to PdC, I'll take a pair of Chacos and some flip flops. |

I love my Chacos but I wore them too much around sand in Playa last winter. The sand wore through my skin under the toe straps. Ouch. I won't wear them much around sand anymore. Mine were old model Z/2.

I have a pair of Bite Sandals that are great for the water. Great traction, comfortable and dry out quickly. They run about $80 per pair but are well worth it.
