What's the difference between the Barcelo Maya Tropical, Beach, and Caribe?

I am going there in Feb and this is what I have gathered so far:

The Beach and the Caribe side are the "old" side
The Tropical and Colonial are the "new" side
Tropical and Colonial can use everything (restaurants, buffets, pools)
Beach and Caribe can use just Beach and Caribe side, though I think they might be abe to use the new pools .
Everyone can use the same beach


It is slightly confusing.

Shammy knows WAY more than I do, I am sure she'll see this and respond.

Buildings 1,2, and 3 are the Beach Resort

Building 4 and 5 are the Caribe

Beach and Caribe's can use everything on the new portion except the Air Conditioned Buffets and New Ala Carte Restaurants.

Aerial photo showing Tropical in relation to Beach and Caribe. From left to right the buildings are Beach: 1, 2, 3; Caribe: 4, 5; Tropical: 6, 7. To the right of this will be Colonial: 8, 9 but that is not in the photo as I imagine it is under construction when this was taken.
