Favourite Non-Traditional Holiday Songs?
Mine would have to be 'Fairytale of New York' by the Irish band The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl. Great song. Quote:
The lyrics aren't exactly sweet or romantic, but what a great tune. I also love Bob and Doug MacKenzie's '12 Days of Christmas' and Ukrainian comic Metro's version too...it goes like this: Quote:
I guess that is only really funny if you know a lot of Ukrainians though, like I do. |

I guess it's a good thing this is about HOLIDAY songs (have we beaten this dead horse enough yet?
) because I like Adam Sandler's Hanukkah Song. And I like that song from the "new" Grinch, "Where Are You, Christmas?" And I like that Porky Pig Blue Christmas too. That inspired us a couple of years ago for our answering machine message... which I think we're recycling this year:Tune of Blue Christmas (son playing piano, husband playing guitar in background, me singing): "We'll have a blue Christmas without your message, We'll have a blue Christmas without your message, You know we're not at home, So leave a message after the tone Please dooooo, so we won't have a Blue blue blue Christmas...." (This year son is going to attempt to sing the harmony... AND we have to sing it in less than 20 seconds... are we total GEEKS or WHAT???? ) |

"All I want for Christmas is a real good Tan" Kenny Chesney. When that came out last year it kind of became my dream for the future. In my current job that will never happen because it's the busiest time of year for me but I can dream.

One of my favorites is Sanctus by Angels of Venice, Christmas music that has a instrumental/new age sort of feel to it. |
