Cell phone bandit

Did it make world news of the 19 yr old girl who robbed 8 banks all the while talking on her cell phone to someone? She stole a total of less than $50,000 and was sentenced to life in Federal prison today. What a waste, 19 and spending life in jail.
On the flp side they had a case here in Colorado recently where a young kid killed another person with his car accidently and got less than a year.
Bit of a difference.

Piper...what you been reading? Wikipedia? The real news says she will not be sentenced until March 2006....from 12 years on up is what they are guessing. Now I am beginning to doubt the veracity of the Colorado case?

It does seem a bit disproportionate.

The rationale everywhere in the world is that the car being such an important part of the economy, heavier sentences for those convicted in relation to incidents involving fatalities must be kept off the statute books so that people aren't discouraged from driving and the economy doesn't get dealt a blow.
Apparently, the car industry needs us to drive a certain amount each year so that predicted built-in obsolescence targets are reached.

Nevertheless, what would count towards the girl's extremely heavy sentence would the number of occurrences, and not the amount involved. In my opinion, it would still be a disgusting sentence.

Okay Jacko I was a little off in hearing it. So I went and checked out CNN's website. It states that she will be sentenced on March 3rd in Alexandria VA and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. I stand corrected.

I'm just happy we are not considering the death penalty!

Orange. And there's no vegetation, no bushes, nothing...

But we immigrated here from another galaxy and we adopted Spanish as our official language
